i’ve been having an existential crisis about indie hacking. is it dying? have i wasted three years building apps that AI will commoditize? am I trapped inside the X bubble? should I pivot to robotics? well, i built an app to talk myself through it all. today, i’m launching it to the world, not with a traditional founder video, but with an indie-rock music video born from some of my existential dread. walky talky is what i use to vent, process my thoughts, capture ideas quickly, and make sense of whatever’s on my mind. it asks me thoughtful questions as I speak, and then summarizes my rambling into useful notes I can revisit later. most AI products give you more answers, more content, and more things to consume. I want AI to do the opposite: stay quietly in the background and give you more space to think. if you've been feeling some of the same uncertainty lately, i hope this little app can help.

one of my favorite things about AI right now is how random vibe coders are absolutely CLOWNING the gaming and tv industries yes, we can play halo ce on a mac at 120fps yes, we no longer have to deal with shitty bloated spyware tv OS's if these companies don't start solving real problems, we're going to do it ourselves

love my bank* so much
1/ Hiring your first employee is one of the biggest moments for a founder. But payroll, taxes, benefits, and compliance are far more complicated than they need to be. Now with AI we can make the pain of payroll go away. @Mercury Payroll* launches today!

grok @bot's that have actually stuck after a few months of using them: chief of staff - daily priorities across all my client work from slack, linear, github, gmail, calendar, notion meetings. individual client bots run hidden in the background and feed it context check supply production monitor - watches vercel logs, our database, github, and customer support emails for issues. i've merged a few PRs from it before i even noticed the bug privacy guard - sends takedown requests for my and my family's personal data, checks every week that they stay offline shemail - finds newsletters and outreach in my inbox, asks which ones to unsubscribe from x follower bot - briefing on new followers so i can follow back interesting people and skip the crypto bots. also resurfaces stuff i bookmarked spam musubi - checks my spam folders for legit customer emails that got caught issue tracker - linear triage. creates tickets from slack and meeting action items i forgot to capture dm triage - screens inbound on linkedin so i never have to open linkedin snail mail (codex dot) - watches my business mailbox through earth class mail's mcp, flags deadlines and unfinished work across email, slack, calendar, github codex imessage review - catches texts i owe someone a reply on, and deletes the payday loan spam texts i get every day
grok @bot's i've made so far - email newsletter unsubscriber - inbound DM triage (requests / spam cleanup) on x, linkedin, instagram - x follower bot - monitor new followers, build briefing on who they are, see if interests align to connect. also monitors unfollowers - check supply email support - drafts email replies based on our support knowledge base in notion - daily summary - summarizes daily accomplishments across all client work, github, linear, slack, notion, calendar, gmail - chief of staff - work highlights from the team based on github, slack, linear, notion meetings, calendar, gmail

the biggest change is how i prompt now that everything is connected i just assume every agent knows everything so i spend way less time thinking about how to ask and just tell it what i want to happen

the key is to realize that your agents knows just as much as you do, if not more so you don't need to spend as much time giving context as you think

b/wack > Mises understood this back in 1944: the bureaucrat creates nothing. He administers what others created, following rules that have no connection to the value produced. The day value flows directly from the one who creates it to the one who receives it, the bureaucrat has no function left.
I don't know if you realize what just happened. Elon Musk is completely bypassing the State. For 100 years, we've been told the problem is capital. That it must be captured, taxed, redistributed. With an army of intermediaries standing between those who create wealth and the people: ministries, agencies, commissions, bureaucrats. Musk is doing the opposite. He's taking his capital and giving it directly to the people. One SpaceX share to every kid in America. Not a handout. Not a subsidy. A piece of the machine that's taking humanity to Mars. And he says it himself: this is the first of many. Mises understood this back in 1944: the bureaucrat creates nothing. He administers what others created, following rules that have no connection to the value produced. The day value flows directly from the one who creates it to the one who receives it, the bureaucrat has no function left. That's what's being born right now. A new liberal world order, where the very concept of the State will make less and less sense. The world we're entering is a world of abundance. AI, robots, energy, space. And that abundance won't come through the State, for one simple reason: we have a century of proof that it doesn't work. Redistribution was version 1.0. Direct distribution of capital is 2.0. While France is still debating how to tax builders even more, America is handing stock to its kids. Pick your side.

Except for kids whose parents have a “I bought this before Elon went crazy” bumper sticker on their Tesla
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

Funny how frontier models still estimate a task to take 2 weeks when it literally proceeds to do it in 2 hours
