I’m thrilled to share that the first manuscript of my PhD is now live on bioRxiv 🎉: Compensatory Evolution to DNA Replication Stress is Robust to Nutrient Availability. Let’s dive into what we found and why it matters! 🔍🧵 (1/7) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Congratulations to PhD student @MarianaNatalin6 on her first author paper, detailing new findings on the inner workings of yeast adaptation to DNA replication stress in different environments. Amazing work Mariana! 🧬⚗️

Este é o percurso da manifestação. Que ninguém se engane e vá bater à porta do antigo ministério…! Partimos do Ministério da Educação, Ciência e Inovação, na esquina entre a Av. Infante Santo e a Av. 24 de Julho.

Congratulations to PhD student Victor Mello from the Sartori lab on his pre print that takes a deep dive into the relationship between energetics and conformation of AAA+ molecular motors 🦾🔬🧬
Really cool work Victor!

Today, I reflect on the legacy of @IGCiencia over the last 60 years and what it has meant for research and the scientific community in Portugal and beyond. IGC was never just a place—it was a pioneering model. #IGCLegacyLivesOn 1/5

If you are in Lisbon, come to the last beer hour @IGCiencia, to end this chapter while toasting for even better beer hours with GIMM to continue our wonderful scientific discussion in our patio! Thank you @phd_igc + all IBB students for all the great events!
New paper alert! 🚨
Congratulations IGC PhD student @afonsomendes92 on this incredible body of work, when you can’t answer your biological question, why not develop a new method to make it work!
Check it out! 👏
🚨🖥️🦠 OMG! #SReD is live and SHREDDING! Tap into the power of structural repetition to see new things! I'm clearly biased, but our method sure isn't! Let me show you what it can do 🧵👇doi.org/10.1101/2024.09.16.6… #opensource #microscopy #biology
Another week, another fascinating chalk talk! This week we had @romana_yanez teach us about her impressive PhD work on splicing factors in plants! 🌱
Exciting times ahead! The 2023 IBB PhD cohort presented their projects at the annual workshop to the entire institute last week.🧑🔬
Very thoughtful projects that will no doubt push the boundaries of existing knowledge in their respective fields, well done to all! 🧬⭐️
After the holiday break we resumed our Chalk Talk series with PhD student Monica Louro from the @KarinaXavierLab teaching us about community interactions and contributions to bacterial biofilm formation!
Keep up the exciting research Monica! 🧫

Unforgettable @OpticalBiology Symposium earlier this week!! Thanks @phd_igc and @ChampalimaudF for hosting us and it was so cool chatting to all our new science friends
What an incredible 3-day retreat in Lisbon with PhD students from @ChampalimaudF and @IGCiencia! From roundtable discussions and cutting-edge imaging facility tours to engaging poster sessions and student talks, every moment is inspiring with constant exchange of ideas and fun!🔬
Day 2 of the Optical Biology Symposium @IGCiencia, what a day! We opened with great talks on the history of microscopy, current work ongoing at IGC and on the future of accessible microscopy platforms from @gaby_gmartins @HenriquesLab and @Diana_GM_
Today we opened our two day Optical Biology Symposium at @ChampalimaudF along with @ucl PhD students! Highlights of the day included keynote talks on modern imaging approaches, a tour of @ChampalimaudF, and a fruitful poster session from students from the three institutes!
Thank you to @ritafior, @daniobrain and Davide Accardi for great presentations and advice on leveraging imaging in our work!

What an AMAZING week at #ThymE learning everything about my favorite cell type!
Also: so happy and honored to receive one of the ThymE24 Grants, thank you for checking out my poster and discussing T-ALL with me 😁🫶
Huge congratulations to Dr. Marco Louro, who defended his thesis with enthusiasm yesterday combining a unique mix of modelling and empirical work to create all in all a super thesis!
Well done Marco and good luck for the future!
With longer days and summer approaching fast, we resumed our PhD student Chalk Talk series at @IGCiencia! First up this year was Gwen from the Treeck Lab.
Gwen introduced her project on how plasmodium surface antigens are trafficked, using very elegant techniques!
