SwiftUI is a design tool from the future. For #WWDC23, @dillwanner and I gave a talk on how we’ve been using it to design Apple Maps, and how you can do the same! Full video: developer.apple.com/videos/p…

A helpful observation from Lewis on the dynamics of group friendships. "In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity."

There's a great section in @dianaglyer's book on Lewis and Tolkien, that speaks to how this idea sparked their incredible creative output. "there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to write some ourselves".
this but for whatever your medium is

Fred Brooks on what makes programming fun: 1. The sheer joy of making things. 2. The pleasure of making useful things. 3. The fascination of solving puzzles. 4. The joy of always learning. 5. The delight of working in a tractable medium.

I've been enjoying the poetry and illustrations of @malcolmguite and @stephencrotts's "Galahad and the Grail". It's a beautiful book in every way!

Feels incredible to share the work we’ve done this year, excited to have been a big part in bringing to life a more powerful and personal Siri.

Capon: Caring is what counts most. Any effort spent in caring for even a minor good is on the side of the angels. And it is contagious; the minor can spread to the major. I developed a time schedule for writing only after I successfully made time to practice the recorder. I acquired a working knowledge of what care felt like, and then transferred it to a field where I knew I should care more than I did.

Loved this answer from Dana Gioia on what he learned from Auden. "Auden gave me the permission to write libretti, to write song lyrics, to work with jazz musicians, to do translations, to do long poems ... to work in any style I wanted to." "He did not allow himself as a poet to become hyper specialized"

We are hosting an SF-edition of this dinner + study (with Pastor Clark) next Thursday, April 2nd with @philipcdavis & @georgiatdavis in Bayview! Topic will be “Creating and Imaging: Technology and the Image of God." Dinner will be provided, and it should be a warm evening of fellowship with people across all faith backgrounds. Space is limited, so please DM if you'd like to join :)
Hosting these monthly dinner & discussions in my tiny studio with Pastor Paul @PTMNYC has been one of the top highlights of this past year. We wanted to create a space where anyone, regardless of your faith background, can gather for honest conversations about faith and life over a warm meal. Some photos from last night's dinner on the topic "What if Jesus had never been born?" Grateful to have met everyone who's joined over these last few months. We hope you'll join us in the new year!

Conway on Bugatti: "He was not a qualified engineer; he had received no technical education and possessed no diplomas. He had learned as he went along, from experience which increased with the years, and a natural mechanical ability aided by a gift of observation."
