Anybody know what I mean by "5pm has a specific feeling?"
Like, it feels a certain way.
Not good. Not bad. It's just 5pm.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
I literally cannot believe this
JUST IN: Zuck reveals shopping has become the biggest use case for Meta's Muse AI, with over 25% of users shopping through the agent & average purchase exceeding $200.
this, from a guy whose pinned tweet is an ecstatic review of a book with only one word: "meow"
You Can See Everything, while completely unremarkable in every way (it’s reality television), did supply me with an opportunity to lean over to my friend and whisper “this is why I left California” when, two hours into the drably staged, monotone Kabuki of fake autism (actually substance abuse and narcissism, but the most boring varieties of both), the monotone, fake-autistic Nathan Fielder marvels at the monotone, fake-autistic Elizabeth Holmes’ feigned inability to understand a simple joke, something I personally had to endure hundreds of times when dealing with this (exceedingly common) strain of Cali-poisoned “savant” whose entire pathology is that they’re just not very bright. A nice little blip of insight wrested from three hours of ketamine-assisted woolgathering I wish I never got involved with in the first place.

I get 75 of some variant of the following email every. single. day.
Hey Phillip,
Noticed Future of Commerce creates commerce is culture, which is exactly the kind of editorial identity that turns TikTok Shop into a cultural awakening.
Worth taking 20 minutes for next week?
as foretold

notice..
> Delta is blocking AI agents from booking flights
> JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab block agents from accessing accounts
> Yelp requires paid data licensing for agents
> Amazon has blocked Grok bot and other shopping agents.
the internet is starting to block AI agents that were supposed to do everything for us
commerce is culture
Be Nathan Fielder:
> grow up in Vancouver, Canada
> join your high school improv group alongside Seth Rogen
> graduate with a commerce degree in 2005
> decide accounting isn't for you
> start doing comedy
> land a correspondent role on This Hour Has 22 Minutes
> create a segment called Nathan on Your Side
> give real people increasingly ridiculous advice with a completely straight face
> turn the concept into Nathan for You on Comedy Central in 2013 at 29
> spend four seasons convincing real businesses to try increasingly absurd marketing schemes
> sign an overall production deal with HBO in 2019
> convince them to fund The Rehearsal
> build an exact replica of a New York bar so one man can practise a conversation
> co-create The Curse with Benny Safdie and cast Emma Stone
> return to The Rehearsal in 2025 and spend over two years learning to fly
>actually pilot a Boeing 737 carrying more than 100 actors
>secretly spend three years filming convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes
> co-direct You Can See Everything with Lance Oppenheim
> convince A24 to release the nearly three-hour documentary
> make it for roughly $7 million
> open in 2026 to $15 million from just 855 cinemas
> sell out more than 2,000 screenings in one weekend
deliver the biggest non-music documentary opening in over 20 years
nice
the artifice of @nathanfielder and @ElizabethHolmes having some kind of chemistry or relationship is created through deft editing and re-enactments, insinuation by Seyfried. Maybe Oscar-worthy editing work by Adam Locke-Norton (The Curse, The Rehearsal)
the device is so clever it borders metamodern because it makes a critique about the reality of truth in documentaries while examining the reality of truth-telling itself from one of the most famous people convicted of fraud in modern American history.
as Amanda says in the film, television and film are fictional — a form of fraud — that some people believe to be truthful. and the film admits as much: Nathan wants us to wonder if he's complicit not just in the fabricated relationship but in telling a fabricated tale while examining someone who is going to prison for the same act.
what has been created here is genius that never beats you over the head with its own brilliance, because, just like Holmes at the center of it all, it projects a false humility and would prefer to tell you a confusing story in what otherwise seems like a very simple case.
the film is the embodiment of the very case it examines.
an astonishing feat.
