even as a Maoist surely you have to admit that making people smelt all their belongings into worthless pig iron and exterminating millions of sparrows with no thought for the knock-on effects makes Mao a drooling imbecile right

Disgusting ableism and hatred towards mentally ill people in the comments. Wtaf is wrong with people? When did we become such a cruel, selfish society that openly wants disabled people and mentally ill people dead?

This comic doesn’t actually vindicate a socialist who buys a multimillion dollar house instead of allocating some of that money to those in need.
This comic turned 10 in September btw

People insisting that the tiger should have been shot to save this guy are operating from the same riak-elimination mindset that has led to "don't exit bus until it stops moving" signs. From all accounts it was extraordinarily difficult to get into the tiger cage. You couldn't just accidentally fall in, or hop over a waist-high railing. The guy had to scale a tall fence, and apparently did so after fighting off people who tried to stop him. So then people will say oh, the fence should have been taller, or it should have been topped with concertina wire, or it should have been entirely enclosed. Fine, you do that, and then someone even more suicidally determined comes along and finds a way through r additional expensive security measures. They bring wire cutters or something. So then that doesn't work, and people say ok, well zoos just shouldn't have tigers then, they're too dangerous, retards might get hurt, we need to cull the tigers to save the retards. So then no one gets to enjoy tigers and tigers go extinct. Designing our entire society around the tail risks created by the most retarded people in society is, in fact, retarded. The purpose of society should not be insulating the stupidest among us from the consequences of their idiocy.
I've seen many people saying the tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park should have been shot when the man entered its enclosure. I couldn't disagree more. From the footage I've seen, it looks extremely difficult to even get into that enclosure in the first place. And from what I've heard, the staff did an incredible job reacting as quickly as they did, while showing restraint and avoiding killing an innocent tiger. These are apex predators. They are extremely dangerous animals that will naturally attack humans when confronted in their territory. Hopefully this magnificent animal isn't put down in the aftermath of this tragedy. The tiger did nothing wrong.

The thing that never happens and could never happen and that only evil people predicted would happen has happened again.
A convicted child rapist is in custody after sexually assaulting multiple women in an "inclusive" female locker room at a Massachusetts Planet Fitness. The franchise has previously defended its policies allowing males to enter the women's areas. reduxx.info/man-arrested-aft…

Yeah if I was Deborah Ann Woll I'd be pissed. You get cast as a badass goddess and then the weirdo devs uglify your likeness because they're either ideologically compromised, jealous or just very bad at business. Whatever the reason, it's very stupid.
Imagine being so retarded to look at the goblin mutant in God of Menopause and honestly believe that it looks in any way, shape or form as attractive as Deborah Ann Woll. And before this idiot cries about mocap: Kojima did it right back in 2008. Modern devs have no excuse. They uglify women on purpose.

The easy joke is that women's spaces actively encourage male hatred, so they assume that men must do the same. The funnier joke is that men don't actually know what men do in male spaces either, because male spaces haven't existed since ~2005
The thing about raising a son who genuinely respects women is that he will be completely ostracized from most male spaces.

An interesting little time capsule from the 2010’s is that having any opinion on Israel used to be seen as inherently anti-Semitic and right-wing. Imagine how little sense these would make if released today.

I really hate this genre of tweet because its purpose is to create cynicism about people who actually defend free speech. And this is a particularly funny example. Did Mehdi actually read the report? The ACLU/Amnesty report repeatedly cites my organization, @TheFIREorg, and credits us for defending pro-Palestinian students, professors, and protesters. It cites our work involving Tulane, Brandeis, the University of Florida, Texas Tech, Penn, and our First Amendment briefs in major litigation. We were involved with practically all of the incidents in someway. And FIRE is hardly alone. @CatoInstitute, @EFF, @PENamerica, Knight, @NCAC, the @rcfp, @Rutherford_Inst, the First Amendment Lawyers Association, and others have been fighting these battles too. So where are the “free speech warriors”? They’re in the report. They’re in the footnotes. They’re writing the letters and filing the briefs. And on cancel culture, Mehdi has actually acknowledged that people sometimes get wrongly fired and self-censor. Where we disagreed was that he dismissed concern about left-wing cancel culture as largely a “moral panic,” while correctly pointing out that there was also a serious threat from the right. The left-wing “moral panic” claim was partisan nonsense. The evidence of cancellation from the left was overwhelming. But the threat from the right was real too. If you actually care about free speech, the answer is not to pick your preferred censor. It is to stand up to both. We did. @RIKKISCHLOTT and I wrote an entire book about it, The Canceling of the American Mind. We took on cancel culture from the left AND the right: amazon.com/dp/1668019140
Where are the free speech warriors? The anti cancel culture brigade? The intellectual dark web folks?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The ACLU/Amnesty report this post refers to cites FIRE for defending pro-Palestine speech, including a Texas Tech professor reinstated after FIRE’s letter and Penn protesters. The report itself is a result of the work done by the people Mehdi claims are absent. aclu.org/press-releases…

If The Atlantic magazine is doing guilt by association, here's a pic of its owner, Laurene Powell Jobs, with Ghislaine Maxwell.
In Defense of Guilt by Association: Judging people by the company they keep is actually a very good determinant of their character. Latest me, for @theatlantic: theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…
