Lighter will get hacked within a year!
That's what almost every Lighter hater will tell you without actually understanding how its security architecture works.
Lighter doesn't rely on one system being perfect.
> The security model is layered.
> When a state change happens:
> The sequencer executes it
> ZK circuits independently prove that the transition follows the rules
> Ethereum contracts verify the proof
> Guardians add another protection layer between execution and final settlement
The important part is that the sequencer and the proving circuits enforce the same rules through separate implementations.
So one system is not simply trusting the other.
They can effectively cross-check each other.
Vlad described this as a "Swiss cheese model."
Every individual layer can theoretically have weaknesses, but an attacker would need failures to line up across multiple independent layers before a bad state can make it all the way to final settlement.
And the protocol itself is only one part of the security process.
Lighter also uses:
> Internal security reviews
> External security reviews
> Continuous testing
> AI-assisted testing
> Formal verification
The team is currently working toward formally verifying the most critical components.
There is also something I think people overlook: execution on Lighter and final settlement on Ethereum are not instantaneous.
That delay creates a window where abnormal behavior can potentially be detected before funds are finally settled on Ethereum.
And AI cuts both ways.
Yes, AI makes it easier to search for vulnerabilities and automate attacks.
But Lighter's team worked in AI before building the exchange, and they are also using AI as part of their own testing process.
None of this means Lighter is impossible to hack.
No serious system should make that claim.
But reducing the security thesis to "it's a crypto exchange, eventually it gets hacked" ignores how the system was actually designed.
Sequencer → independent ZK proof → guardians → Ethereum verification → final settlement
The real question isn't whether one component can fail.
It's how many independent security layers would have to fail at the same time for that failure to become catastrophic.

Congratulations!
Privacy pools are pioneering and one of the last teams in this space trying to make private digital money a reality without crippling compromises. I really respect of what they have achieved, incredible work.

we have continually shared our gtm approach over the last quarter: white glove service, friendly economics, FDEs, etc. and today during our 3Q investor update call we shared a bit more on what those partners could look like
I am seeing so many mid-curve takes on Lighter.

What’s new since last week 🚀 (and something big on Friday 👀)
📎 Attach files to a message: notes, code, CSVs, logs (up to 10 files, 512 KB each). Drop them on the prompt or use the paperclip, and the model reads them with your message.
🔎 Web search in chat: tap the magnifier and the model gets up to ten pages from the web, cited right in the reply. Hover a citation to preview the page. Works with every model at the standard tier.
📚 Docs are live at docs.privateinference.gg: who sees what at each privacy level, how private execution is checked, what we keep, payments and the API.
🚪 A new Start page: “Open app” takes you straight to sign-in, “Get an API key” drops you into your keys.
💬 Questions or feedback? There’s now a Discord link in the header.
🛡️ cUSDC on Aztec: if your cUSDC is sitting on your public balance, we now tell you that and how to move it to private, instead of “Balance too low.”
🧮 Math that looks like math: nested fractions and subscripts like d₁ now render properly.
And the big one 👇
Private Inference leaves closed beta and opens to everyone (Open Beta) on Friday 23 October. No invite needed.
One balance, every model, in chat or by API. Top up in USDC on Base, private cUSDC on Aztec or ZEC, and pay only for what you use.

A custom Uniswap V4 hook burns collected DAEMON and directs collected ETH toward funding Daemon Rounds.
The thesis: transferable AI businesses with wallets, reputation and economic activity. Extremely early, but worth exploring.
Think of it like imd.fun/ but for personal autonomous agents.
