There are leaders who speak, and leaders who deliver. Cyril Ramaphosa has spent eight years caught up in rhetoric. Captain Ibrahim Traoré has spent four transforming his county.
Ramaphosa promises a new Dawn in South Africa yet has presided over the darkest days of our democracy.
Of a hundred GNU promises tracked over two years, a handful were kept.
Meanwhile development and transformation in Burkina Faso is no mirage.
Traoré has taken back territory. Over 1.3 million displaced people are now home. Gold that no longer leaves as a royalty. A refinery has been opened.
Fanon warned that the national middle class would keep the colonial economy and change only the flag.

Capitalists and its supporters are a funny lot. Hypocrites in fact. When workers complain about the use of cheap labour and non-unionised, they’re told that’s how free market works. When “cheap cars” enter the markets they want protection and subsidies. Makes you think

Best wishes to you as you recuperate. Wishing you a full recovery - love and strength to your Chief Caregiver at home. Phela la tefa lona when you are sick. 🏃♀️ 🙈
Today I received a courtesy call from former president, Thabo Mbeki at home.
The visit by the struggle stalwart was cordial and assuring. “Zizi” was accompanied by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation CEO, Max Boqwana.
I would like to thank Mr Mbeki and many of you who have sent messages of support.
I look forward to returning to my duties in full, serving our nation with renewed energy and commitment.
Inkomu, and may God bless South Africa.

AfSA STATEMENT ON US VISA RESTRICTIONS AGAINST SOUTH AFRICANS
A serious escalation
The new US visa restrictions escalate a dispute that has moved from criticism and aid cuts to now targeting individuals. The American embassy in South Africa issued the needlessly belligerent warning that the new directive is "the first step in a series of escalatory measures". This amounts to pressure to change South Africa's laws, court outcomes, and foreign policy.
Some Afrikaner organisations have applauded the directive, but they don't speak for all Afrikaners – and on social media their stance has fuelled hostility toward the whole Afrikaner community. The actions of a few should not stigmatise an entire group.
Our courts decide – not foreign governments
South Africa is a constitutional democracy with an independent judiciary. The "Kill the Boer" chant is inflammatory and harmful to reconciliation. But our courts found it to be protected political expression rather than incitement – a conclusion the Constitutional Court left undisturbed. The ANC has banned the song at its own gatherings, but President Cyril Ramaphosa cannot overturn a judicial ruling just because a foreign president demands it.
The Expropriation Act permits nil compensation only in narrow, just-and-equitable circumstances, with full recourse to the courts, and it's being challenged judicially right now. Constitutional disputes belong in court, not in foreign executive orders.
Race-based laws – a debate for South Africans
BEE’s effectiveness and vulnerability to abuse and elite enrichment must be debated. But it is constitutionally permitted and intended to address apartheid’s continuing economic consequences. That debate belongs to South Africans.
There's no credible evidence South Africa has more race-based laws than any other country. The oft-cited index counts any law where race is legally relevant, regardless of purpose, including defunct pre-1994 statutes. Equating remedial measures with apartheid-era domination laws is misleading.
Farm violence is part of a national crisis
Attacks on farmers and rural communities are horrific, leaving families with grief and trauma that must never be dismissed. Victims deserve compassion and justice.
But their pain shouldn't be exploited to push an unsupported narrative of state-sponsored racial persecution. Violence touches every community – its heaviest burden falls on poor, predominantly black areas where murder, robbery and gang violence are daily realities. Recognising the broader crisis does not minimise the horror of farm attacks; it places them within South Africa’s wider failure to protect its people, rather than a racially targeted campaign.
Foreign-policy double standards
Washington invokes property rights in South Africa while backing Israel despite documented displacement and seizure of Palestinian property. It demands distance from Iran while courting its own rivals when convenient. Non-alignment is not obedience.
Engagement, not submission
South Africa should stay open to engagement with the US. But our laws are tested in our courts, our disputes resolved democratically, and our foreign policy is set by South Africans – not by foreign governments.

👏🏾👏🏾The 15 Advocates who locked horns for 3days in the epic Phala Phala case just to work out whether the Zungula Motion & President’s responses contain enough evidence to warrant an impeachment enquiry or “a case to answer”…Only lawyers can argue about that😂

Over R 389 278 000 000 has been borrowed by the government in last few years. These loans unfortunately trap future generations in debt.
The country pays more on servicing debt than on social services.

Dear @NPA_Prosecutes now that you have the #NkabindeInquiry report when are you discharging your “constitutional mandate expeditiously” to arrest and charge General Johan Booysen and members of the Cato Manor police unit as the report states that there is “evidence supporting the institution of racketeering
charges” against them.

There is so much that is worrying about this admission.
A minister of police suggesting that he knows the culprits but the system cannot touch them because they are politically powerful is a shocking admission, when one considers the seat of power especially.
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia says the masterminds behind the brutal murder of anti-corruption whistleblower Babita Deokaran are free because they are in positions of power. Today marks five years since Deokoran was gunned down outside her home for uncovering widespread looting at Tembisa hospital. Tune in to #eNCA on #DStv403.

We never needed Afriforum to validate our patriotism. The fact that some Black people feel the need to seek recognition from organisations rooted in white privilege is itself a manifestation of the inferiority complex produced by colonialism. What an embarrassment.😩

South Africa is, by and large, a land of impunity. I guess that’s why the Madlanga Commission feels so satisfying; it offers a glimpse of what accountability might look like.
