Einer meiner Follower hat das alte Bild mit meiner Oma von 1976 koloriert. Danke dafür, denn da ist mir etwas eingefallen. An der Gürtelschnalle sieht man ein Band. Es war eine schwarz - rot - goldene geflochten Schnur, die ich da trug. Wer erinnert sich daran und hat so was auch getragen?

From 1887 to 1889 Frederic Ward Putnam excavated at Serpent Mound. He found that when the earthen effigy mound was made, the design was first laid out on the ground with stones forming the snake. At the bottom of the illustration is a "transverse view" showing a trench cut through the mound that exposed the stones. From: Putnam (1890).

Its story began in 1412, and over the following generations, a fortified medieval residence was transformed into an elegant Renaissance castle. Unlike many historic castles, Mespelbrunn survived centuries of conflict largely unharmed, thanks in part to its secluded location. ‘Tan Hill - A Pub with Attitude - The Highest in England’ at 1,732 feet a.s.l. has now re-opened after an unexpected closure due to unplanned maintenance. Just Peter Brook’s sort of place in an isolated location at the top of Swaledale, it was one of his favourite watering holes.
