The Executive Development Centre (EDC), Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), conducted a two-day training programme for stakeholders from the education sector of Balochistan on 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰-𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 (𝗣𝗣𝗣𝘀). The programme featured sessions by PIDE experts, including an inaugural session by Vice Chancellor PIDE, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗺 𝗝𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗱 (𝗦𝗜) (@nadeemjavaid75), who discussed the foundations and strategic context of PPPs. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗱 (@HassanDaudButt) highlighted the entrepreneurial aspects of public-private partnerships, while 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘇 covered the financial fundamentals of PPP projects. The programme also included an interactive live poll activity conducted by 𝗗𝗿. Pakistan’s federal employees had the computers and the electricity to work from home. What most of them lacked was permission. PIDE’s latest Policy Viewpoint “𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿” by Dr. Nasir Iqbal (@drniqbal) and Azwar Muhammad Aslam (@__azwar), evaluates the March–June 2026 work-from-home experiment using a survey of 541 federal employees across 21 departments. Key Findings:   • Households were ready. 89.7% worked on a computer, and 66.1% had backup electricity.   • Departments were not. Only 42.6% got remote access to official systems, even though 70.3% of offices already ran electronic filing.   • Guidance was missing. 54.4% received no instructions at all.   • Work moved to WhatsApp. 84.6% of supervisors managed staff on it, compared with 25.7% on e-Office.   • Output broadly held, but hours fell. Home days were 27.8% shorter than office days. The lesson: treat WFH as an administrative reform, not just a change in work location. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱?   • Headline inflation eased to 𝟭𝟬.𝟮𝟲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁, and core inflation moderated.   • Food, energy and utility costs remain important sources of pressure that rate hikes cannot directly reverse.   • Recovery remains uneven: Q4 growth slowed to 𝟮.𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁, while cumulative private-credit flows are negative despite positive annual credit growth.   • PIDE projects inflation easing to 𝟴–𝟵 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁, leaving the policy rate 𝟮.𝟱–𝟯.𝟱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.   • SBP Reserves of about 𝗨𝗦$𝟮𝟭.𝟱 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 and a stable rupee provide room to hold. Further tightening would raise borrowing and debt-servicing costs without a clearly established additional benefit. Easing is also premature.
