This luxury of our bureaucrats is not ‘despite’ economic crisis but the crisis itself is ‘because’ of it. Recently @__azwar and @nadeemhaque held a discussion on @PIDEpk where they explained how the potential rich land of top cities is being wasted as free residences for them.

Why Prime Real Estate is Wasted in Pakistan? Do we need High Rises of Farm Houses? I #PIDEcast Houses for government employees only in Islamabad are around 17471, allotted to various categories. Total area that these houses occupy only in Islamabad is approximately 1325 acres. The monetization cost for employees that are currently allotted houses is Minimum RS 7.9 billion to 27 billion Maximum. However, the total cost of monetizing all the federal government employees will be between RS 135 to 741 billion annually at market-based rent. Colonial masters build grand structures to impress upon natives the fact that they’re superior and can’t be fought against to win. #PakLeaders and the power elites have continued this legacy because they believe that they’re #RulersNotLeaders @__azwar @NidaKirmani @NiazMurtaza2

Replying to @__azwar
@__azwar explains a very significant issue here. The land that could be utilized for commercial purposes in places like #Islamabad is being exploited for residential purposes by #PakLeaders and bureaucrats. 1/2

There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding freelancing/the gig economy in Pakistan. Waqar @awqasim and Azwar try to remove some of these....
The 4th industrial revolution has disrupted traditional employment, creating new opportunities, particularly in freelancing, especially for youth. Freelancing market structure is crucial due to unemployment challenges & govt efforts to promote freelancing. pide.org.pk/research/what-do…
