Tight on money? Here’s what to actually stock for food. Skip the fancy stuff and the “prepper pantry” influencer lists. Buy calories that last, stretch, and don’t require a second mortgage. Priority list (in rough order): -Rice (white, long grain). Cheap, lasts years if stored dry, fills you up. -Dried beans / lentils. Protein + fiber. Pair with rice and you’re eating like a functional human. -Oats. Breakfast, filler, cheap. Old-fashioned or quick. -Pasta. Dirt cheap and filling. -Peanut butter. Calories, fat, protein. The real kind, not the sugary fluff. -Flour (all-purpose) + yeast or baking powder. Bread, tortillas, dumplings. Shelf life is shorter than rice, so rotate. -Canned tomatoes / tomato sauce. Flavor base for a million cheap meals. -Salt, sugar, oil (vegetable or olive if you can swing it), and basic spices. These turn “survival food” into actual meals. -Canned or powdered milk if you use it. Shelf-stable dairy. We use this every day as we do not drink milk. You can’t tell the difference when using it in cooking. -Eggs (fresh if you have chickens; powdered if you don’t). How to buy smart when money is tight: -Watch sales and clearance. Stock up when it’s cheapest, not when you’re already broke. -Warehouse clubs or bulk bins beat grocery store prices if you have the cash to buy bigger quantities once. -Store what you already eat. Buying a case of something nobody will touch is just expensive trash. -Rotate. Eat the oldest stuff first so nothing goes to waste. Rice + beans + oil + salt will keep you alive longer than any “emergency food bucket” full of low mystery calories. Everything else is just making it less miserable.

Easy recipe for making Gluten Free Fry Bread over a wood burning stove, fire pit etc. Fry Bread is delicious and comes from Native Americans.

If you’re waltzed about not having milk for recipes during power outage, buy powdered milk.

I was diagnosed with a rare intestinal cancer at the age of 33, not long after being diagnosed with celiac disease. Never would a doctor admit that the celiac could have contributed to the cancer, or even entertain my concerns about what the chemicals and additives in our food might be doing to our bodies. Never did a doctor apologize for the unnecessary surgery I had at 28 after my symptoms were misdiagnosed as appendicitis. That surgery caused a massive infection, which caused extensive scar tissue, which eventually damaged my reproductive organs so badly that I needed a full hysterectomy at 28. I lost faith in the medical system a long time ago, and it only got worse in 2020. That year I was also diagnosed with MS and lupus, along with more health issues that eventually resulted in a heart procedure. And once again, doctors only wanted to prescribe pills and injections because, of course, “there are no known causes and no known cures.” I couldn’t get anyone to listen to me or dig deeper into WHY my body was doing what it was doing. At the time, COVID was king, and everything else seemed to take a back seat. These are my experiences. I lived them. Our medical system has been a joke for a long time, and millions of people have suffered because of it, unmercifully.

Anyone ever heard of the herb Guduchi? It supposedly helps MCAS. LMK if you’ve tried it and if it helped you.

If you’re preparing, listen to this woman. She knows.
Those freeze-dried emergency meal buckets are mostly a marketing gimmick aimed at scared people who panic buy. I currently own zero emergency food buckets and have enough food to feed my family for quite a long time. A 50-lb bag of rice is about $25 and around 82,000 calories. Seal it in Mylar with oxygen absorbers and it lasts 25–30 years. Same for beans, oats, and pasta. You can feed someone for a year on bulk staples for a few hundred bucks. The pouches? Often 250–400 calories each, $8–13 a pop, and loaded with sodium. You’re paying a huge premium for “just add water” convenience and a dramatic shelf-life claim that cheaper basic dry goods already match when stored right. Fine for a backpacking trip or a grab-and-go bag. As your main long-term plan? It’s an expensive way to stay dependent on someone else’s product. Do the math. Then buy rice.

Anyone else stocking up on rice and dried beans? Preparation for emergency is always good. I also made Pumpkin Butter and GF Pumpkin bread. Pumpkin Butter is emergency food too, Y’all. 😂 I make mine with maple syrup as a sweetener. The key to pumpkin butter is to stir constantly for 20 minutes to avoid it sticking to the pan. 🎃

This is really great info for both LongCovid and POTS sufferers because they’re essentially the same. Note the use of XOLAIR, especially if you have MCAS. It’s a monoclonal antibody injection. My old Mayo Clinic geneticist that specializes in EDS told me that MCAS is a constant driver of POTS.
I recently said I'm feeling good for the first time since developing long COVID. Lots of people asked for meds that helped the most. Here's a list and my general approach. longcovidmd.substack.com/p/m…

You can also disagree and still be friends, follow one another on social media etc. How boring would life be without different opinions?
You can disagree and be kind about it.

Great video. POTS patients do a lot of extra planning for outings. Extra meds, compression and cooling gear, etc. My kitchen tip is to have a counter height stool to help with long periods of cooking. It helps me a lot.
In honor of POTS Awareness Day, I wanted to share a video that I genuinely wish more people would take the time to watch. It’s one of the best videos I’ve come across explaining what POTS actually is and just how debilitating living with this condition can be.

Civilians, are we prepared? Can you survive without fuel, the grid or municipal water?
FORTRESS: The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to survive 90 days without outside support — no civilian power grid, no global supply chains, no outside fuel or water. The initiative, revealed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, envisions portable nuclear reactors, massive battery storage, and microgrids that can disconnect installations from civilian electricity entirely. Strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies would be stockpiled based on wartime consumption rates. Civilian factories are being pre-identified to shift to defense production during a crisis. Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell put it bluntly: "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures." Full story here foxnews.com/politics/inside-…

That would be a lot of bottled water. 3 mos. People with well water and wood burning stoves would be okay.

LongCovid Clinical Trials in the U.S. These are free. clinicaltrials.gov/search?co… These could potentially pave the way for real treatments for millions suffering from POTS (Dysautonomia) prior to Covid also.
