At some point in your founder journey, you have to stop building the product and start building the company. Most founders who get somewhere are already good at building products, but many are very bad at building companies. Build your company with the same passion you bring to building the product. Treat building the company as building the product. Company building is the only way to get something sustainable. Being profitable or having cash flow isn’t enough. You need: culture, passionate people, incentives, a north star, systems. The most important piece here is being able to recruit people smarter than you to execute your vision. You need to do unreasonable things to recruit the best people. This is what the greatest companies in the world have.

I wish someone had told me that after signing a $20k customer, we could extrapolate that number so we could announce that we had a $1B run rate.

Dear followers, I’m delighted to share this interview with 60 minutes on AI and jobs. Thank you

I've found that investors have a hard time investing in highly complex businesses because they're hard to understand. The ironic thing is that hugely correlates with the potential for building a moat.

The solution to feeling like AI commoditizing everything is extreme ambition. Build insanely more ambitious things than you would have ever thought of building. AI today is truly magical. If you show what we have now to yourself 5 years ago they would never believe it. But you'd also think that once everyone has access to this technology, there will be insane achievements humans are doing everyday. But these haven't come yet. You'd think that once everyone has access to this technology, humans would be doing insane achievements every day. But that hasn't happened yet. For most people, that bottleneck is imagination and ambition. One person sees a new model drop and thinks "oh fuck, this is gonna commoditize everyone, what can I even build?" Someone else sees the same thing and says "I'm gonna build something bigger," because it's very clear we're not out of problems in the world. Maybe ASI comes and there's literally no need for human creativity. But that's not the reality now, and it's a problem future you can face. If you preemptively live in that world, you won't build anything and you'll just be depressed. And if it does happen, at least we'll all be going through it together, so it'll be less lonely. Say no to doomerism. Every new release is your cue that a world of possibilities just opened up. The ambitious people are already on it, but these things take time and effort. That's why everyone smart I know is working harder than ever. They see the potential of this technology, they see it's not realized yet, and they want to be the ones who realize it. Pick something that would have been impossible before AI, and just build it.

ohhh so after all this time, the point of skills was just to get more data for OPD? continuous learning is already here if you take into account re-training loops. the race is just about who gets more frontier data faster, and has gpu capacity to keep serving/training

GPT models really like to say "trusted verification layer" I'm strongly starting to believe, after many tokens of reasoning, these models are starting to collapse to the same ideas. That's why everyone is building the same shit

I predict that in 2025 human automation from AGI will come so fast that some small riots will happen. Those first riots will represent a greater decel movement, similar to the ones that happened in Nottingham during the industrial revolution.

it's happening. (under the ai safety discourse) everything is going vertical, and the labs know this. we will see more coding tools aside from claude code and codex soon, that will be way more advanced (e.g. devin). 1/n
p=.95 that the labs will no longer release frontier models via an api anymore, just through their product surfaces only selected partners will get api access mortals like us will still get access to nerfed versions of the models labs want to stop distillation traffic and consumer business threats this will just backfire and will make open model adoption go bonkers, inference cos. and foreign labs could be the winners here if they revshare. soon we'll see dario and sama ask for stricter controls on frontier open model inference due to safety concerns.

the only moats are great ai models, and highly dense networks. everyone else, despite making revenue, won't make any profit. saas -> vertical harness. there are big opportunities in improving the infra stack: - vms - cache - state machine frameworks - streaming - authz

unfortunately, making a leapfrog in horizontal ux, just means attracting copycats, since anyone can replicate stuff nowadays. go all-in on vertical stuff, horizontal stuff just comes with scale. or be so close to research, that you can monetize an incredible insight.
