at this point the only way to surprise anyone is to actually deliver

Last year, I tried to explain the concept of "piracy and market interest"
they don't and can't understand how piracy affect how famous JP manga/anime in the world
In the end, their consensus was we don't need foreign market. I gave up at that point
Yeah, it's just that type, isn't it?

Fuck you all. I was right.
Was shit on for defending the Steam Machine's price, not because it's great, but because that is the reality of the hardware crunch, and nothing can be done about it.
All the console nerds came crawling in, saying that a $1500 PS5 or New Xbox wouldn't happen. They'd have deals, they'd sell it at a loss, something something economy of scale, all the cope.
And would you look at that lol
WORSE than I predicted.
BREAKING: A new report claims that Xbox expects its next-generation console to cost as much as $1,800 and is currently targeting a 2028 release. A new handheld is also rumored to launch next year.

Horseshoe theory in action: neither far left nor far right can distinguish between LGBT characters existing in a story and stopping the story for several minutes to lecture the player about pronouns.
I have experienced this personally - from the receiving end.

This is me WRT Super Robot Wars V/X/T. Region-locked on Steam. Bought 30. Will buy Y. As much to play as to signal support for official releases. (These three games have complex legal issues hobbling matters, but the idea is the same.)

I sat down with a man from Jump in 2009 & told him "pirate sites are doing what you won't- giving us One Piece on time. Hire the fan translators & give us a digital upload portal to buy it for 99 cents per manga, per issue? We'll subscribe to all 15."
He couldn't comprehend it.

The real irony is that Japanese don't pay to watch the anime in the first place - it's broadcast programming.
Most anime is paid for by broadcast advertising and it's used as a promotional expense by the manga publisher to drive more paper sales.
But then, in the International market, they'll license DVDs and subscription services to watch anime with [EN] subtitles, but they're extremely reluctant to even sell you even a simple digital edition of most manga, let alone the riskier [EN] paper copy printings.
Then there's the much larger global [ES] population that might as well not even exist in this conversation.
extremely funny how "media literacy" experts respond to every counter-argument by stuffing their fingers in their ears and screaming "NYAH NYAH NYAH"
When I reached this scene in the book it was the most radicalizing moment I had vis a vis Veerhooven and his movie. The man who utters it approaches Rico after hours - now wearing full robotic prosthetics - and tells him that the "horror show" is deliberate, to dissuade lukewarm recruits.
Veerhoven committed an act of vandalism, and his own direction revealed that "fascism" to him was nothing more than an aesthetic. Just some petri-dish shallow jackoff violating a work of sincere fiction he couldn't begin to wrap his mind around. What an asshole.
"There are way too many people living as if they're on an Earth where Americans have vanished, making it unbearable to watch from the sidelines"
Brother you said it perfectly. This is a big reason America needs strong allies; if they're strong enough to stand on their own, they won't start panicking every time America breaks wind because the consequences of America's policies can't be catastrophic to them.
Alliances between the strong are built on confidence. Our current government has even recognized that past leaders sought to make our allies weaker to increase control over them, and called it foolish. We can see how foolish it was right now.
Brother, who said we were? Off the top of my head, only Nintendo is as bad as Disney. You don't think we're fools who view all 122 million people in the home islands as one creature, do you!?
Some of the smartest comments are coming from Japanese people themselves to be honest. And most people are just defaulting to "do the right thing!"
There's only a few people going out of their way to be rude.
White people in Europe spent a few thousand years murdering each other with great vigor. In the land of my ancestors, Greece, we'd stab someone if they were from the village on the other side of the mountain - and they weren't even tall mountains, like they are in Italy. It was the principle of the thing.
So I'm not surprised and I'm not judging in the aggregate based on a few examples. I just want to know that I'm putting on the proper gloves before I start swinging.
"Authors aren't seeking to get paid." I dare you to say this to an author's face. If you said it to mine they'd have to glue you back together, you son of a bitch! If I wanted to be wealthy I'd have become a surgeon, not a writer, but I still have to eat, you dirty bastard!
