Haha yeah its been a great sweet spot for me. I've always felt like i was jack of all trades, master of none in regards to both technical and non-technical skill sets.
But man AI has been a HUGE boon for someone like me

Is any of this that complicated? The tech industry does the same thing every time something very, very, very big appears on the horizon.
People get excited. They overspend building infrastructure as they try to seize the high ground for the next big thing. They get overzealous both by the ideas and the money. They overestimate how quickly the technology will filter into the world.
There's a big pullback at some point. The boom busts. But then it all comes back even bigger than before.
Semiconductors. PCs. The internet. We have been here.
Ed will be right on some things given enough time. Unless . . . . AI keeps improving and hits some huge leap forward - a la transformers - before the data center build out stalls.
Him continuing with the idea that AI is basically fake just seems obviously wrong to me. Even if AI didn't improve at all from where it is, the world is just very different. Like internet different.
“Do they believe their own bullshit?” Jon presses Ed Zitron (@edzitron) for insight in how tech’s business leaders are rationalizing their massive debts that are servicing the advancement of AI.
We need a HBS case review on how the Italian team Como is being run
Bought by an Indonesian owner. It's basically run like a PE soccer team. Except that its just 1 owner and not like some corporate body that needs to constantly make shareholders happy.
Killed Manchester United 4-1 lately
It's a pretty crazy story and rise. On par with Wrexham honestly

This is f*cking insane. Anthropic engineer:
"95% of our engineers run self-improving harnesses on Opus 5.5
In 2 months nobody will be raw prompting anymore"
That's the skill behind the $500K-$900K agent engineering offers right now
In a 35-minute lecture, he builds a self-improving harness from scratch
Prompt → Harness → Loop → Self-Check → Agent That Improves Overnight
Worth more than a $1,500 agentic course
Bookmark and watch it today
Then read the "Harness, Loops, Graphs" guide below and build the harness first ↓
I think what the article is missing is that often times women in corporate who are “really smart” also have a tendency to have a hug chip on their shoulder to always prove “they’re better than the guys”.
Usually very aggressive, opinionated, my way or the highway (unless talking to someone higher up), gives a lot of “why are you so stupid” looks to ppl
And so ppl end up not liking them as much. But this also happens to men.
Basically just because you’re smart doesn’t mean you can be an asshole and still expect ppl to like you
If the argument is that well that guy is a smart asshole and still got promoted. What you’re not noticing instead are all the other smart asshole men that DIDNT get promoted
For real! 🤣
I think people underestimate how much personal freedom is available to a man who is physically at the office
You can get coffee, take a walk, have lunch with somebody, spend 40 minutes discussing college football, or just sit quietly and think
All of this is understood to be part of working
Try doing the same things at home and suddenly there are questions about what exactly you've been doing all day
I’d agree with this. But that doesn’t mean there’s no room for local inference though? Could see it for something that isn’t time sensitive or if you want to keep the data locally like for a personal AI
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”

you attract what you repeat. if you constantly let negative thoughts control you, you'll eventually feel drained and unmotivated. try to replace the idea of "i can't do it" with "i can do it" and see how everything aligns and works just fine. it's all in your mind.
Honestly i feels like there's a way we can handle such situations better, where the old coworker can still come into work and feel like they're contributing while not killing the budget for everyone else (and hopefully this opens up a position for a younger person)
I forgot if it was Princeton or Bell Labs where they would give these old workers some sort of fancy "emeritus consultant" title but cut their pay in half so that they can still come in everyday and be a resource to everyone else, but have no actual operating responsibilities
Oh damn.... she passed away a day after her visa expired? yeah i get it

lactoferrin helping with expanding your maxilla is not talked about enough.
it does this simply by improving bone formation at the sutures when they are expanding.
funnily enough this protein is found in raw dairy but gets destroyed during pasteurization, the "raw milk = chad" memes might actually be true after all.

I'm in my 40s. The most scared/disoriented people in my network are the ones that have the following resume => went to an Ivy League school, went into consulting for Bain or BCG or investment banking for a bulge bracket bank then MBA at Harvard/Stanford and then career progression in high income tech W2 or hedge funds/private equity.
A number of these individuals in the last 5 years have been unexpectedly let go in their early 40s with 2-3 kids in private school and a burn rate they socially struggle to walk away from (kids have close friends now, business connections at the private school their kids go to, living in a high cost location makes it easier to network, etc).
These are the people literally have only been told they are excellent their entire lives and now are in year 3-4 (no exaggeration) of trying to land a new job. Some are willing to "settle" for working for mid 6 figures (some even less) just to cover their burn rate with a young family.
AI probably makes this dynamic happen earlier in one's career going forward for some of these perfect resumes individuals. Good chart from @Jack_Raines in his book Young Money
You're saying you didn't date your husband for money because you start dating him 1 month before he hit the NVDA takeout jackpot?
Right....... 🤣
Honestly i'd give her credit if they dated for like a year or more before that. But a month? come on man.....
And the other girl was like "I didn't date my husband for his money because he wasn't the rich and famous VC he is now when we started dating. He was just going to move to Singapore to work for the soverign wealth fund"
Basically my husbands were such losers before we got married because they all went to ivy leagues and only made 6 figures salaries and weren't millionaires. But I stuck by them and they've now struck it rich.
OK.... starting to get the resentment the episode is getting lol
I think they also give off the vibe that they don't actually respect their husbands and take them for granted. Did they actually say anything nice about their husbands besides "they made a lot of money" on the podcast?
Nothing has red pilled me on the US food supply system than finding out my kid can eat organic wheat and European wheat but not the typical US wheat
I totally get this
Getting laid off and then having to find a job in 8 weeks or else you get kicked out of the country is a new level of stress most ppl can’t relate to
Heartbreaking story of a Chinese immigrant engineer, who, after getting laid off from Amazon, reduced epilepsy medication on ChatGPT’s advice so she could perform better at job interviews and apply for a green card. She died because of all these.
