Yes! #moreplantsonplates please! More plants on plates = less emissions, less waste, less METHANE (cough, ahem, @MichealMartinTD, splutter), less antibiotics (remember the antibiotic resistance crisis anyone?), less chronic disease, less hospitalisation, improved biodiversity...
The European Society of Cardiology has recently updated their guidance for primary prevention of Ireland’s number one cause of death; cardiovascular disease. Class I, Level A evidence is to limit animal foods and eat towards a plant based diet. @HSELive @plantbaseddocIE

"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk…”
One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen any politician do to any city.

As cities seek to build the housing and urban density we badly need to address many of our biggest crises, we should never buy into the false choice of urban density OR urban green spaces and people-places. Never forget, the latter are critical for doing urban density successfully. #DensityDoneWell

Even bigger subsidies being considered for private motorists while they hike the Public Transport costs for those travelling sustainably
It’s unbelievable where Governments priorities are at the moment
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says nothing has been ruled out when it comes to lowering the cost of fuel for motorists.
He says further interventions may be warranted as the price of diesel passes €2 a litre at some filling stations.
However, any additional spending on fuel supports would reduce the money available for next month’s Budget.

Because we are A) unwilling/ incapable of valuing ecosystem functions that marginal or peaty land already provides, and B) unwilling to legislate against drainage without oversight, we are storing up massive costs for the State....all for absolutely meagre agricultural gains.

“Do your own research” is excellent advice.
Just remember:
Googling isn’t research.
Watching videos isn’t research.
Finding a paper that agrees with you isn’t research.
And reading scientific literature doesn’t magically give you the expertise required to interpret it.
Access to information is not the same thing as expertise.

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via study that still underestimates climate cost.
This isn’t about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.

Common sense.
