Very sad news that the wonderful Bonnie Greer, playwright and novelist has died aged 77. I interviewed her a couple of times and watched her on BBC QT. She was a smart, sassy, firebrand who will be missed from our public discourse RIP 🙏🏽

Last week I wrote about the double standard at play in the right wing MSM coverage of Jason Arday’s story for @thenerve_news. My column included, a comparison to another Cambridge professor who, back in 2023, was found to have plagiarised work but kept his job bec of the Uni concluded the intellectual theft was “the product of negligent acts but was not deliberate”.  I’ve waited all week for other outlets to reflect that comparison. But no. Presumably because it’s an inconvenient fact that didn’t fit their toxic narrative. 1/

Dame Jenni Murray, best known for presenting BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour from 1987 to 2020, has sadly died at the age of 75. Mohit Bakaya, Controller, BBC Radio 4 and Director of BBC Speech Audio has paid tribute tribute to Dame Jenni. “Jenni Murray was a formidable voice in British broadcasting who was warm, fearless and beloved by listeners,” he said. “During her decades at Woman’s Hour, she helped shape the national conversation with intelligence, rigour and a remarkable ability to connect with audiences. Jenni leaves an indelible legacy on generations of listeners. “We are profoundly grateful for her outstanding contribution to Radio 4, and she will be deeply missed.”

Impossible to overstate the importance of Jenni Murray to the movement of women that changed our politics, economy & our society; that changed our lives. She was the broadcasting wing of the women’s movement. We all owe her. RIP. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpwj…

I’ve always been a big Christine de Pizan fan, but I’m writing in her voice (for a new book) & didn’t realise quite what a 14th-century bad ass she is?!? Just reread her section on rape & it hits hard!! She was taking absolutely no prisoners… love that strong women find a way!!

Brilliant in pretty much everything she did. Hail and farewell.
We are saddened to hear of the death of Jane Lapotaire. A truly brilliant actress her RSC credits include Piaf, winning her TONY & Olivier awards, & Gertrude opposite Kenneth Branagh in Adrian Noble’s Hamlet.

A reminder... without women, there was no Bletchley Park. By January 1945, women made up 75% of the workforce, taking on roles across almost every level of the organisation - from operators and linguists to engineers and analysts. Their contribution reflected a wider shift across wartime Britain, where millions of women stepped into vital roles in industry and the armed forces. Yet despite their expertise and dedication, many faced official and societal scepticism and barriers to progression - particularly in technical and senior positions. Today, we celebrate their skill, resilience and lasting impact. Discover their stories and the difference they made by visiting Bletchley Park. #BletchleyPark #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #GiveToGain
