The @nytimes is at it again, defaming the next @NIH director @DrJBhattacharya. We urge them to correct their false claims in this letter together with Drs. @Bryce_Nickels, @anish_koka & @kevinnbass.

Oxford Union is controlled by terrorist supporters. Last night I asked the participants and pro “Palestine” opponents during a debate at Oxford Union if they would have reported Hamas plans to authorities to prevent October 7 massacre; 75% of the participants voted they would have chosen not to report Hamas plans to the authorities.

Labour is now sending £2 billion of British taxpayers money abroad to “tackle climate change”. This is a third more than the £1.5bn saved by robbing British pensioners of their Winter Fuel Allowance. Make no mistake, this British government is the enemy of the British people.

BREAKING: Covid vaccine saving millions of lives based on a modelling study is ‘implausible’ according to the director of @CebmOxford ‘s @carlheneghan & Tom Jefferson. ‘Sadly, many journalists don’t check their numbers or facts: many of the assumptions in the model are incorrect, and the estimated number of deaths averted by vaccines is implausible’ spectator.co.uk/article/did-…

If a man is a woman, there's no such thing as a woman. You're desperate to be categorised as female, but by entering the category, you destroy it. You know that, which must suck for you, but not as much as it sucks for the women & girls fighting to retain their rights and spaces.

Replying to @SenKatyG
Oh no! A gender pay gap that sounds terrible! But it's fudged statistics - You don't compare people working the same job where the gap disappears. You compare the pilot's wage to the stewardess and call that a gap.

Why should @NancyMace or any other female member of Congress/staff have to share their bathroom with a man pretending to be a woman? It’s NOT about the feelings of the man masquerading as a fake woman. It’s about not forcing actual women to have to worry that a man is in their bathroom where they are vulnerable (and which is supposed to be a safe, private, female-only space). Members should STAND UP FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS and not be cowed by empty claims of “bullying.”WOMEN are the ones being bullied into submission.

This article, by the @nytimes by Alice Callahan gives a 👍to vegetable (seed) oils. But in my view, she fails to make her case. This is a long tweet with hard facts, some🔥‼️ -Her first quote is from Stanford's Chris Gardener, a longtime vegan, for ideological (non-health) reasons, whose entire center is underwritten by Beyond Meat. It's safe to say he's biased against animal foods. Seed oils entered the US food supply to replace animal fats (eg, Crisco, not lard. Margarine, not butter). If we get rid of seed oils, we're likely to go back to those natural animal fats, which, as a vegan, Gardener rejects a priori. So, his opinion is highly biased. -Callahan acknowledges that omega-6 fatty acids in seed oils morph into inflammatory compounds but says they also create some “non-inflammatory ones too.” No citation is provided for this latter statement. -Convincingly, she cites a systematic review of clinical trials that showed “people who consume more omega-6 fatty acids generally do not have higher markers of inflammation in their blood.” !! I was surprised, given all the studies I've read showing these oils to be inflammatory. Turns out, the review she cites was put out by researchers at a lab at Jiangnan University in China. This school says that “No less than 180 famous food companies in China joined the [school's] Board of Directors,” and that it works closely with ultra-processed food giants “Mondelēz, PepsiCo, P&G, Danone, National Adhesives, Nestlé, Cargill.” The schools' entire focus is pro-industry. foodsci.jiangnan.edu.cn/engl… Because seed oils are the backbone of the ultra-processed industry, there’s no small incentive at this school to defend this core ingredient. I wouldn’t expect all reporters to dig up this information, but I found it after only two ChatGPT queries. And the NYTimes, on a hot, contentious topic? Yes, it should. -Callahan says that people with lower o6 in their blood have lower risks of all kinds of diseases. This information all comes from observational studies, which are a very weak form of evidence that can only show associations. V. rarely can they establish cause-and-effect relationships. “Association is not causation,” writes Callahan herself later in the piece. So she gets it? Or maybe not. -She quotes Alice Lichtenstein, the country’s most stalwart opponent to saturated fats. Alice has a very strong intellectual bias against saturated fats and thus, in favor of seed oils. She once accidentally sent me an email about her work with Bunge, a giant seed oil manufacturer. This is Callahan’s third, highly biased source. -Callihan says LDL-C drops with seed oils, whereas it goes up with saturated fat. This tired old argument has been rebutted so many times. Suggests to me Callahan did virtually no research for this story. Yes, LDL-C goes down on seed oils, but reducing LDL-C through diet has NEVER been shown to reduce cardiovascular or total mortality and only rarely shown to reduce cardiovascular events. These “hard” health outcomes (heart attacks, death) are the ones that matter, and for them, lowering LDL-C through diet has no effect. Many large clinical trials have shown this (There are about 8 other arguments I could make on the LDL-C point, but I’ll spare you) Perhaps most egregiously, Callahan does not provide a single quote from the ‘other’ side of the story, for balance. This is a fundamental standard in reporting…why did she not bother? I have written some of the original work on these oils (on cancer/oxidation/inflammation issues). Paul Saladino is an MD and yes, a YouTube influencer, but he really knows his science. Why not even reach out to us? We are pretty well known entities. So, in sum, another subpar job of reporting in the NYT health section. And worse, not at a service to its reading public. @paulsaladinomd @heartandsoilHQ @ChrisKnobbeMD

This is grotesque. A suicide note on behalf of a nation.
Today the PM announced our new world-leading target to cut UK emissions by 81%. There is no national security or economic security without climate security. That's why we have announced this target today. To protect future generations, deliver jobs and drive economic growth.

I think the message is simple: 1. Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is the pre-eminent cause of arterial disease in modern society. 2. Arterial disease can lead to heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, lower limb gangrene requiring amputations. 3. If you have T2DM or its precursors (metabolic syndrome; pre-diabetes) and you continue to eat more than 250+g carbohydrate/day, regardless of what else you do (eating your greens; exercising; taking your insulin; meditating etc), you will die of one or more of the complications listed in 2. 4. If you have T2DM or its precursors and you restrict your daily carbohydrate intake to less than 25g/day, regardless of what else you do, there is a reasonable chance that you will escape some or all of the complications listed in 2. 5. Anyone who is not prepared to tell you this, has a reason to want to keep you unhealthy. I would not trust their advice. @lowcarbGP @drjasonfung @zoeharcombe @TheNoakesF @DrPeterBrukner @drericwestman @bigfatsurprise
I agree but I feel a rather more useful message for #WorldDiabetesDay is to ‘avoid foods that put your blood sugar up’ 👍😊 Then wellbeing may well follow 🤞

With all the celebrities who promised to leave the US if DJT wins, I feel there is some reluctance. I hate to be the practical one, but would it make sense for them to get an airline to give them a deal, synchronise dates, and share taxis?
