This is going to be such an important report and we need to urge the government to act on it. Young people need support with mental distress, not contemptuous dismissal.
Young people aren't snowflakes - mental distress is rising, says head of official review bbc.in/4yINys7
The right to choose is important and I want the choice. Anyone facing death in the near future is being denied that right. In my view that’s wrong on every level.
Moments ago MPs voted against Lauren Edwards MP’s assisted dying bill, by 286 to 270.
This is a devastating setback for dying people - but make no mistake, this issue is not going away. Law change on assisted dying remains a matter of when - not if. The British public demands that Parliament listen, and terminally ill people and families will not rest until they do.

Palm oil is quietly replacing dairy fat in chocolate, biscuits, and processed dairy products across the UK — while British milk production sits at a surplus and some farmers are pouring milk away.
Since privatisation, water companies have extracted £85 billion net out of the system.
Every penny they claim to have invested has come from your bills; they’ve also racked up a debt mountain of over £60 billion at your expense.
Their actions now are indefensible. We need water in public hands.

“They have bled our infrastructure dry for profit.”
Campaigner @Sophie_Conquest calls out the ‘frankly ridiculous’ decision by Britain’s water companies to impose surge pricing during droughts.
Boycott all the businesses who operate here if they don’t pay tax on their profits. They offer employment which benefits our country but so do all the other companies and they pay tax.
If true: she like the others need intensive training on the impact of abuse on a child and the 100% risk the abuser poses to other children. Probation is insufficiently funded and also likely similarly insufficiently trained in the Trauma it causes.
This is Judge Eilidh MacDonald. She’s the judge who sentenced Joseph Wood, of Milton Drive in Buckie, to 3 years’ probation after Wood spent five years sexually abusing a little girl, starting when she was seven. He was found guilty of multiple sexual assaults at Inverness Sheriff’s Court, but MacDonald allowed him to walk away free, with just 200 hours of community service, three years’ supervised probation, and 3 years on the sex offender registry — two years less than Wood spent abusing his victim.
Eilidh MacDonald obviously cannot be trusted to mete out appropriate punishment for crimes committed against children, or to take appropriate measures to protect the public from predators. She should be removed from the bench, and held accountable in some way when Joseph Wood molests another child.

In 2007, Marlon West tracked his missing teenage daughter, Scarlett, to a Rochdale grooming flat and tried to force his way in.
Instead of rescuing the girl, Greater Manchester Police arrested Marlon for breach of the peace.
The family later waived their anonymity to expose the failure, highlighting how authorities punished protective parents.

They say ‘it happened years ago, leave it alone.’
Tell that to my mum @Telford_Escaper who still wakes up screaming at night.
Tell that to me, who grew up knowing I was created from her abuse.
Grooming doesn’t ‘expire’. Trauma doesn’t disappear. And silence only lets it happen again.
I’m here to break the silence. Because survivors matter. Because justice matters.
My mum was just 13 in this photo after giving birth to me.

Another post leaving me lost for words. Silence enables this to continue. We need to get behind the noise about this, it’s in the information below!
Judge Rowland’s sentencing remarks in the serial gang r@pists case are utterly breathtaking. He decided that a knife wasn’t used as he looked ‘carefully’ at some of the CCTV. He stated that IF a knife were used in one of the r@pes, it was ‘ONLY’ to cut off her leggings and there was ‘no violence or exploitation’ ONLY to cut her leggings and there was was no violence or exploitation??’ EXCUSE ME? This is one of the most outrageous statements I have EVER read - and I’ve read a lot. It’s not enough to be angry - take action. New episode soon to drop on Crime Analyst so follow and listen 💀💣🤬

There are no words to describe the attitude and behaviour of the ‘humans’ in the GMP. The societal uproar isn’t loud enough. There needs to be more noise calling this, no doubt endemic, attitude and behaviour out!
GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE HAD A PLAN FOR CHILD RAPE VICTIMS. IT INVOLVED DROWNING.
Not literally. Relax. That would have required effort.
A senior Greater Manchester Police officer reportedly told detective Maggie Oliver @MaggieOliverUK that the girls being groomed and raped across Rochdale "should have just been drowned at birth."
Lovely stuff. Very professional. The kind of leadership culture you want running a child protection investigation.
So they didn't drown them. They just closed the investigations instead. Much cleaner. Better for the budget.
Operation Augusta. 2004. Twenty-six girls identified. Ninety-seven suspects. One detective doing the work. Then GMP pulled the plug, citing costs. Eight of those suspects went on to commit further serious sexual offences, including rape. The girls kept being abused. The files got buried.
When Maggie Oliver came back and raised the alarm again during Operation Span, her bosses dismissed her as an "emotional woman."
She had evidence of hundreds of perpetrators and countless victims beyond the nine men eventually convicted in 2012. They called it resolved. Fantastic result for British justice.
She resigned. Faced potential prosecution under the Official Secrets Act. @BBC eventually made Three Girls in 2017 because a detective did what a police force would not.
January 2024. Independent review published. One hundred and seventy three pages confirming everything she said. Ninety-six men identified as still posing a risk to children, described as only a proportion of those involved. The review placed blame firmly on senior GMP officers throughout.
Nobody went to prison for the cover-up. Nobody lost a pension. Maggie Oliver almost lost everything.
But sure. She was the emotional one.

Lawyer Peter Stefanovic - whose political films have been watched over a billion times - breaks down Reform's Great Repeal Act line by line: strip day one sick pay, legalise fire and rehire, lift zero-hours protections, repeal the Renters' Rights Act, abolish the Equality Act, and leave the ECHR.
He also notes that almost half of Britons believe net migration has increased when it's fallen 48% to 171,000.
His conclusion: if the media explained Reform's policies, nobody would support them.

This is another example of absolutely appalling leniency on the worst crime in existence. Survivors have an important voice and we need to use it if we can for ourselves, for those who aren’t ready or can’t speak up and for every child.
🚨 Abused for 7 Years, 22 Charges, 13,000 Images - Sentence: Walk Free the Same Day 😡
Child sexual abuse survivor Francesca Dean has bravely spoken out about her horrific ordeal.
Abused from around age 12 by a friend’s father, who filmed the abuse.
Her abuser pleaded guilty to 22 charges, possessed 13,000 indecent images of children, and the offending lasted 7 years.
One of Britain’s most senior child protection judges, Dame Johannah Cutts, sentenced him to just a 3-year community order.
No prison time, he walked free the same day.
This is the same judge who helped shape national guidance on prosecuting child sexual offences.
When did Britain become so lenient with child abusers?
Why do serious offenders with thousands of images and years of offending so often avoid real custodial sentences yet people are regularly jailed for social media posts?
We need much tougher sentencing, real accountability from the judiciary, and justice that actually prioritises victims and deters predators.
This cannot be acceptable in a civilised country.
