Today is an interesting day for me as a creative person. I've had a lot to consider this week, and it got me thinking a lot about what it means to fail. I’m sure everyone that works in any creative field has faced failure at some point. For example, today was the North American release date of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It's been 25 years, but surely those who know about that movie know why it’s infamous. But you know what, I don’t hate it, in fact it’s one of my favourite movies of all time. It was a passion project that Hironobu Sakaguchi @auuo poured 4 years of his life into, and I want him to know it wasn’t for nothing. I admire and respect his vision, and that experience in the theatre stuck with me for 25 years. Most importantly, and the reason I bring any of this up, he didn’t stop. Having left the company he helped build for a decade or more, he made a new one, which he then made Lost Odyssey with. That matters because Lost Odyssey is a fantastic piece of lasting art, truly one of the greatest creative endeavors ever put together. To start wrapping this rant up, failure should never mean defeat, you can always come back.  I have recently failed, and without getting into massive details, my financial state is in ruins after building my indie comic projects since 2018. I am working on recovering my debt through different means, but I do believe I’ll eventually get it in order. That means stepping back for a while on hiring art teams, leaving Primal Chaos and Munbeibi in limbo, despite having scripts ready. But I’m not stopping, I am finding a way. I will continue to write and draw Dirtland Saga myself, I’m deep into development on the script, it’s already close to 100 pages! Of Time and Space: The Lunar Rise I’m considering adapting back into a sort of novel form with illustrations that I will make myself, something like Yoshitaka Amano did with Deva Zan. Needless to say I’ll be staying busy and there will be future releases at some point. For now, my entire library is still available on my website, pointoflightproductions.com/… ,in both digital and physical copies.  For those that have supported me over the years, I thank you, your support kept me inspired. I never did this to be rich, I always just wanted to tell stories and have people enjoy them. I will endeavor to be better going forward in hopes of expanding that goal.
