i said i wouldn't tweet about it again but that was a year and a half ago, so this is a reminder that you should try my webnovel if you like 1) murder mysteries 2) overwrought grognardy worldbuilding 3) hyper-abstracted gay angst royalroad.com/fiction/28806/…
i was featured in this article! thanks to @wendeego for wrangling my pretentious ranting about the western web serial scene into something coherent lmao
Anime fans are familiar with web novels like Mushoku Tensei and Konosuba. But what about web novels published in English? For Crunchyroll News, I investigated the English language web serial scene tinyurl.com/n9bbf4cd

If you accepted that all unfair things in the world could be removed, if only someone knew how - fatigue, labor, death - then to exist in the world we had now, with all its grotesque imperfections, was to know that you had been violated by fate.

have decided that every development in the internet since y2k has just made the experience of novel reading online worse and am abandoning wordpress to code by wn website in html

somebody asked me who my writing is supposed to be for recently. to be honest, i don't think i completely understood myself until i got really sick a couple years ago. here's my pretentious answer: i want to write stories for people who are trapped.

i'm read enough narratives about people able to overcome trauma, find catharsis, and self-actualize. i want to write about what it's like to have no hope, to be in a place where it's already too late, and the ways individuals can respond to having no future.

i wanna make stories that don't make any assumptions about people's circumstances and agency in reaching a happy ending. i want to assume the worst - the absolute worst - and write about what kinds understanding that can be found even in spite of that.

i'm so happy that despite it being frontloaded with grogard ratfic tropes, the primary reputation my novel seems to have cultivated is that it's all about really esoteric yuri. do your best and your heart will shine through

i should be more shameless about promoting my work while there's still a tiny bit of juice in this husk of a website. read my murder mystery webnovel, i promise it gets fun after the first ~20 philosophy lectures

i finally got around to playing pentiment a bit and as much as i'm enjoying it it kinda makes me wish western games that are effectively vns would adopt some standard vn qol features... the inability to backread is painful, especially with no manual saving

as much as I wanna break into VN development instead, one thing I've really come to treasure about serial writing is the intense scrutiny and discussion you get for almost every single significant line... feels good to to know your work is being seen

speaking of which, i mentioned working on a short vn some months ago. that's still happening, i'm just 1) overwhelmed with other work 2) had grotesque hubris about how easily i'd be able to adapt to the format

booted up lotro for my bi-yearly fucking around in that game and some newbie asked about my character border. explained i got it from playing since launch. replied "wow you must be old". absolutely life-ruining

but no i liked it a lot. i've struggled to get into taniguchi's work since code geass but it might've had my favourite character drama all year

i accidentally ate one of several maggots that were apparently infesting a packet of m&ms i bought today. it was okay.

every time i return to stellaris i'm like "ok i'm gonna play a democracy. peaceful star trek future. elections every 10 years. normal stuff" and then i get a pretty lady leader with good traits and whoops it's time for a safe and secure society

when i was a kid i used to always get served turkey on my birthday because it's always on or close to thanksgiving and i had a massive chip on my shoulder about it. but now that i live outside the us i have stockholm syndrome and eat it most years. the human condition i guess

i really really really want to be hype about the ryukishi07 silent hill, but unfortunately it vibes extremely like higanbana and i was one of the like 200 people who actually played higanbana and and <mumbles incoherently about rabbits>

to be real it's not like it was abysmal or anything, but the biggest strength of ryukishi's writing is his specific sort of empathy, and it feels like writing traditional horror kind of suppressed the good parts of that and brought forth the bad ones lol. we'll see
