This has had more legs than anything else I've ever written, and it was composed in a hurry before I had to clock in for work, because a friend of a friend on Facebook pissed me off.

Federal Judge Roy Altman says he's taken "ten percent of all the active federal judges in America" on trips to Israel "just in the last three years."
Now, he's apparently making state supreme court justices humiliate themselves by competing with one another to go on said trips.
"Whoever's going to go is going to have to play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who wins," he says he told the justices. "I looked down two minutes later, and these supreme court justices were going like this [and playing Rock, Paper, Scissors]."
Absolutely insane this is being tolerated.

Forgiveness rhetoric is a close friend of dehumanization. It was born out the same sentiment of "love your master" out of fear of retaliation. Because if you are dehumanized, which is what racism is, arent allowed human emotion such as resentment let alone self preservation.

I am so happy to be in a time period where we can openly discuss how toxic forgiveness is. I have neverrrrr for as long as I’ve been alive, vibed with it. mostly because of the situations I’ve been in and how it’s been framed as something I need to do and if not I’m the problem.

The real core issue of this is that people don’t see racism or anti-blackness as violence, they think it is confined to words and maybe a little bit of behavior, but not systemic, institutional, environmental interpersonal physical, emotional, psychological or sexual violence.

Esp bc forgiveness also functions as a way of restoring the social standing of the offender w/o requiring restitution. Once the victim refuses to forgive, they become the obstacle to reconciliation, & the community can treat their continued pain as disrupting social order
