I'm very excited to announce that I'll be starting a lab at UC Berkeley in July 2023! We'll be focused on uncovering principles in sensory-motor brain networks of NHPs, and designing new neural interface therapies for restoring movements to patients

Global beta events intrude into behavioral periods early after stroke, and are linked to slow trial times, slow movement kinematics, reduced modulation of single units, and interrupted population dynamics. Recovery re-locates global beta events from mid-trial to post-trial.

Finally, I’m still recruiting graduate students and postdocs for my new lab at UC Berkeley for 2024! If you’re interested in dexterity, sensorimotor integration, and neurotechnology in animal models and humans check out what we're up to neuralengatberkeley.github.i… and get in touch!

I’m also on my way to IEEE NER in Baltimore -- if you're interested in BMIs for rehab come check out my poster on Thursday! I'll be presenting on using a hybrid intracortical and myoelectric BMI to drive functional rehabilitation in a severely impaired stroke participant.

The sensorimotor neural engineering lab at UC Berkeley (neuralengatberkeley.github.i…) is getting ready for its opening in July! To help get going I’m looking to hire a research engineer to help build new behavioral setups, contribute to lab codebases, and data management.

🚨New paper out in @NatureMedicine! Epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) has shown amazing results for improving #MotorControl, but does it work in #Stroke? Here we explore the effect of SCS on upper limb motor control in chronic stroke hemiparesis (1/9) nature.com/articles/s41591-0…

How does the brain recover movement control post-stroke? Find out in the “Post-lesion cortical dynamics” session on Tues 1PM (Session 514, SDCC 7 ) ! I find changes in cortical-subcortical beta band interactions and effects on perilesional spiking activity,
