The greatest success of the Modi government has been rooting out massive corruption at the ministerial level, while its greatest failure has been its inability to tackle the colossal corruption within the bureaucracy.

With franchise-style hair salons popping up on every corner, barbers seem to change every month. I miss the good old days when you could explain your style to your local barber just once, and every visit after that was perfect.

A global wave of emergency preparedness is sweeping the world as governments urge citizens to build personal resilience. Over the last 3 months, multiple countries have launched or updated national campaigns advising households to stock up on food, water, and essential supplies to survive disruptions to power, water, or communication networks. Here is what is happening across the globe: • UK: Launched the #BeReady campaign, urging citizens to prepare for up to 72 hours of self sufficiency. • FRANCE: Refreshed civil protection directives calling for a matching 72-hour survival baseline. • JAPAN: Introduced a dedicated disaster management agency, pushing for 3 to 7 days of household provisions. • GERMANY: The BBK issued updated population manuals advising citizens to hold emergency stocks for up to 10 days. • SWEDEN & NORWAY: Distributed updated defense and crisis brochures instructing households to be fully self-reliant for at least one week. • USA: Continues its Ready.gov framework alongside the strategic FORTRESS initiative targeting infrastructure longevity. • EUROPEAN UNION: Expanding the multi-nation "We Act as One" framework to standardize 72 hour civilian emergency kits across member states.

You may disagree with @SauravDassss on his ideology and his methods of protests but making fun of him for not disclosing his father's name or calling him an illegitimate child of some politician is unnecessary.

"Regime change" is a specific, loaded term. It is the language often associated with revolutions, coups, sustained mass movements aimed at bringing down a government, or external interventions. "A change in the regime” is more ambiguous and milder. As an advocate Prashant Bhushan should know better.

For the first CJP protests, I had people on my friends list post stories in favour of them and overall against the BJP and Modi. This time around, there's nothing on their insta stories. Paper leaks ≠ vote chori ?

When the Monsoon Session wrapped up on August 13, 2026, the houses were adjourned sine die (indefinitely). However, the session was not immediately prorogued. Because the session remains technically alive, the government has the power to quickly reconvene or recall Parliament on short notice without needing the President to issue completely fresh summons. Expecting something soon.

Media houses are turning the courtroom into a reality show. A judge plays devil’s advocate during a live hearing, and within minutes, it’s flashed as a "Breaking News" By sensationalising oral remarks for quick clicks, the media misleads the public, fuels street polarization, and manufactures outrage before a single official order is even signed. Sensationalism isn't journalism, it’s just arson for engagement. #LegalReporting #MediaResponsibility

In Jurassic Park, Jeff Goldblum's character says "Life finds a way", but honestly, Mallus find a way faster. There's a whole outbreak scare in the freezing depths of Siberia and of course there's a chettan running an Indian restaurant right there in Irkutsk. We really are everywhere.#PneumonicPlague

We don't hate the people of Afghanistan, Balochistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran. Guess what's common among them? Our hatred is only for our neighbours who have been sending terrorists into our country and killing our brethren. If you have a problem with that, then there's something wrong with you.
The Indian right wing’s love affair with Israel and Netanyahu is ultimately rooted in one thing: its visceral hatred of Muslims. Their admiration for Modi and Netanyahu comes from the same impulse- leaders who will subjugate Muslims, and “show them their place” in the world.

A democratic government is like a common cold: it doesn’t last long and is easily managed. Bureaucracy, on the other hand, is like cancer, deeply entrenched and notoriously difficult to treat.
For the reconstruction of the nation, the skill framework that was needed was given by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He made institution of UPSC a major pillar of independent India. - PM @narendramodi

My name was in the electoral rolls of Kerala, SIR process rightly deleted my name as I was no longer staying there. Later, I got my name added to the electoral rolls in TN and also voted in there last election. Gyanesh Kumar and the ECI have done the right thing with the SIR.

Parents after a child’s suicide often look for a cause they can name. That can be grief, anger, a demand for accountability, or an attempt to give the death a larger meaning. It can also be an attempt to shift the story away from the actual cause.

Dear @Javedakhtarjadu. I'm afraid your response is as boring and overloaded as your similes and metaphors. When countered with facts, you shift the goalpost, bring in the RSS, berate the right wing, take refuge in context, cushion the bigotry, and claim Kafirs were Colonialists not Hindus. I know countering you again is like watering a cactus and praying for leechis, but in the hope that all that knee massaging with Doctor Ortho would have sprouted some neurons, here goes: You asked for a source because you said the quote was “quite unlike” Azad’s “lifelong sociopolitical stances.” I gave you the source: Calcutta, 27 October 1914, published in Khutbat-e-Azad. The words are his. That should have ended the enquiry. It did not. So let us walk through your new script, line by line. 1. “The khutbats were about Khilafat and British colonialism.” Yes. That is what I wrote. Maulana Azad was telling Indian Muslims that a Turk’s battlefield thorn must be felt in a Hindustani Muslim’s heart; that Millat-e-Islam is one body; that friendship and enmity are for the religion of Allah. Then he quoted Quran 48:29 and added his own gloss: be extremely hard against disbelievers, extremely kind among yourselves, and do not pass over this as if you had not heard it. You asked for the when and where. You received both. “It was about Khilafat” is not a rebuttal. It is the context in which he said it. 2. “To claim he was quoting this about the Hindus of India will not be true. The Kafir here was the colonialist.” I did not say the 1914 speech was a municipal circular against the Hindus of Howrah. I quoted what Azad quoted: a Quranic verse about kuffar, and his commentary on unbelief, Tawhid, and hardness toward disbelievers. If Azad had meant “kafir = only the British officer,” he knew Urdu enough to say Angrez. He did not. He used the Book’s word, then told his flock not to skip it. And if “kafir” in Azad’s mouth was a temporary colonial nickname, kindly explain the 1920 Hijrat fatwa, published in Ahl-e-Hadith of Amritsar, in which he said Indian Muslims had no choice but to migrate, and that those who stayed and kept connection with “the enemy of Islam” would themselves be counted as the enemy of Islam. That is not a lecture on income-tax collectors. That is a theology of the land. 3. “When Ataturk took over, Azad called it a closed chapter and condoned the secular government.” Men change. Texts do not. If later Azad made peace with the death of the Caliphate, good for the later Azad. It does not unsay 1914, nor the Khilafat years, nor Masala-e-Khilafat, nor the call that any government hostile to Turkey was hostile to Islam, not the belief in the Quranic verse damning the Kafirs. You began by saying the paragraph was unlike his lifelong stances. Lifelong includes the years he spent as a pan-Islamist firebrand. Evolution is not an eraser. It is a timeline. 4. “Read his Calcutta High Court statement. An honour no member of the Mahasabha or RSS was ever given.” Sedition charges from the Raj are not a unique family heirloom. Tilak got them. Aurobindo got them. Savarkar was given two life terms and sent to Cellular Jail, where the honour included the oil mill, the lash, and years in a cell the size of a cupboard. And of course, knowing your pitiful knowledge of Indian History, I guess you would not know legendary RSS names like Devipad Chaudhary, Jagatpati Kumar, Anna Saheb Deshpande, Ramakant Keshav, Vasantrao Oak, Narayan Singh, Chandrakant Bhardwaj, Dada Naik Chimur, Baburao Begade, Lala Hansraj, Balaji Raipurkar who participated in our freedom struggle and were jailed or shot. 5. “Azad was in British jails for nine years. Name one from your right wing who can match that.” Vinayak Damodar Savarkar: roughly a decade in Kala Pani, further years in mainland jails, then thirteen years of internment in Ratnagiri. Sentence on paper: fifty years. Conditions: not Ahmednagar Fort with time to write Ghubar-e-Khatir. By the way, you might know that your great-great-grandfather Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi was also incarcerated at Kala Pani. What you might not know, or would want to hide, is that he wrote a grovelling mercy petition to the British, pleading to be released. 6. “In 1946 Jinnah refused to shake Azad’s hand. He hated Azad for his patriotism.” How does this turn “be severe against the kafirs, merciful among themselves” into a sonnet about communal harmony? A man can spend 1946 refusing Partition and still have spent 1914 telling Indian Muslims that their first body is the ummah. Fairness is holding both pages open. What you are doing is hiding the 1914 page and waving the 1946 one like a flag. 7. “Your reference to Rahul Gandhi was unnecessary, I expect decency and class.” And I expected you to have some sense of humour. The PS was a reminder that this is the second time I have had to fetch your hero’s paperwork. Last time it was Nehru’s India: books banned, editors sacked, films blocked, Majrooh jailed for a couplet. You lecture me on class after moving from “this cannot be Azad” to “it is Azad but you must read kafir as colonialist” to “anyway he went to jail” to “Jinnah was rude to him” to “please don’t mention Rahul.” That is not class. That is a guided tour of every exit except the text. Look, Javed sahab, let us end this here. I like you. Doubtless a lot of your work is incredible, truly it is. So in that spirit, permit me to pen an ode to you: Javed Akhtar ko dekha toh aisa laga, jaise chhal ka nawab, jaise jhoot ki kitaab, jaise dhong ki kiran, jaise adambar ka van, jaise kapton ki baat, jaise pakhand ki raat, jaise janpath mein ho ek jalta diya. Alvida, Shabba khair. WDTP

Sir the khutbats were about the khlilafat and British colonialism. To claim that Maulana Azad was quoting this about the Hindus of Indian will be mot true The Kafir in this reference was the colonialist . When Ata Turk took over from Ottoman Empire . Maulana called the issue a closed Chapter and his statement was printed as pamphlets condoning the totally secular govt of Ata Turk by Kamal ata Turk himself . I will request you to read Azad ‘s statement in Calcutta high court where British had charged him for sedation . An honour that no member of Maha sabha or RSS was ever given . Azad has been in British jails for nine years can you name one from your right wing who can match that . In 1946 Jinnah as the president of the league ang Azad as the president of congress had a meeting with Lord Wavell . Jinnah refused to shake hand with Azad . He hated Azad for his patriotism. Let’s be fair to Azad . By the way your reference to Rahul Gandhi was totally unnecessary. It was neither true nor in a good taste i expect a certain decency and class from you . Hope you will mot disappoint me at least on that count .

A patriot will die for the nation whereas a nationalist will kill for the nation.
Bengaluru, Karnataka: On Umar Khalid’s documentary row, State Congress President B. K. Hariprasad says, “Umar Khalid is a nationalist. And ABVP has no right to speak about Umar Khalid because ABVP adores Nathuram Godse, who is anti-national, a terrorist- the first terrorist of the country. They have no moral right or moral ethics to speak about Umar Khalid”
