People think the 'great firewall' is to prevent the Chinese from seeing how free the rest of the world is. No, it's to prevent YOU from getting mogged by 1 billion Chinese. The CPC has a 90% approval rating in China (Edelman barometer).
You're not ready for the floodgates to open
The standing orders on social media are:
- ignore/mute reactionaries
- let them speak under your tweets, but don't give them attention. scroll past immediately
- post our own arguments. If you must reply, do so 'vaguely' without QT'ing or even make a pic of comment you reply to.
In the Mbappé meme story, ALL the CPC said is:
"We have noted the relevant reports. Words and deeds that hurt the feelings of the Chinese people will naturally be jointly resisted by all sectors of Chinese society"
All backlash came from Chinese people and sponsors, that's it.

🚨 ATTENTION! People are mistranslating what I said!
I NEVER said people should block far-right accounts. I said they should IGNORE THEIR POSTS!
Blocking actually works against this strategy because the algorithm will understand that you didn’t see the content simply because you blocked the account.
However, when a post appears in your feed and you ignore it, you don’t read it, don’t like it, don’t comment on it, or engage with it in any way , the algorithm will interpret that content as irrelevant because it was shown to you and you chose not to engage with it!
THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLOCKING CONTENT AND IGNORING IT!

Eu nunca ensinei a bloquear ! A questão é ignorar ! Bloquear prejudica a estratégia na verdade

Have you ever noticed that it's always
"The left is too radical! They demand too much!"
on the slightest concession,
while the right happily loots, pillages, seizes and hoards without so much as a second look towards them?

The methods are pretty simple to follow, and Brazilians credit them for Lula's victory:
- don't engage, block far-right accts immediately
- don't debunk, focus on making new content ab your platform
- use all the tools at your disposal
- be equally online and offline.
Surfing on the reelection of Lula in Brazil after an unsure first round, Brazilians are now sharing methods with the French so they can elect their very own @JLMelenchon. The methods revolve around usage of social media and are shared thanks to auto translate. You love to see it.
