A deep dive into Dungeon Explorer and my time speedrunning it. More than just a Gauntlet clone and overall, a memorable early Turbografx 16 game that's not a shmup. youtu.be/3gImIL9znLk
Just got my one credit clear of Biomechanical Toy. Even managed to beat dumplechan's score despite missing some secret items here and there. Total eurojank but it had its moments and I actually liked the euro collect a-thon scoring because some of it requires proper routing.
Sometimes, I still wake up and wonder if there are any indie devs out there who have the balls to do real perma death in their action games and not make another roguelite. Then I go to Steam and realize that is not the case.
Who believes this gobbledygook? Sadly, some people in the comments do, but this reads like a post made by an AI agent that just joined a new age cult and is expecting the Age Of Aquarius to start soon. xitter.cf/JuliaEMcCoy/status/211…
Nobody told you this about AI.
It’s not just replacing your job.
It’s returning something stolen from you.
Your mornings. Your body. Your actual life.
The industrial system needed you sick, tired, and dependent. Fluorescent lights. Processed food. Screen addiction. No sunlight.
A compliant worker drone is easier to control than a thriving human.
AI is dismantling the ENTIRE EFFING MACHINE.
For the first time, a single human with vision and a laptop can build what used to take a corporation.
But here’s what most will miss:
Freedom from work enslavement means nothing if your biology is still enslaved.
Get outside. Let the sun hit your skin. Ground your feet in the earth. Drink real water.
The future belongs to the humans who pair the most powerful AI tools in history with the oldest truths on the planet.
Wake up. The cage door has been open for a while now.
It’s the brave who will escape first.

LOL. That dev might as well have said "I vibe coded this."
This has to be one of the worst AI disclosures I've come across in the sea of AI slop this Steam Next Fest.
"I'm an Indie dev so of course I have to obviously use AI to write the code of my game....." blah blah blah 🥱
Absolute slap in the face to every other Indie Dev putting in the work and developing their games with real skill and passion.
Learn the craft like all the others have! Make something with what you know and show players you can actually build a game. Earn that respect instead of just prompting AI to generate the code for you.
If you want to use AI, fine. But don’t sit here saying “obviously” it needs to be used just because you’re an indie. Don't give Indie's a bad rep just because you're too lazy to learn the craft yourself and do the full work.
Do better.

Your average AI fanboy vibecoding games will be like Peter Griffin winning a game of Trivia Pursuit, acting like he's smarter than everyone else only to then score low enough on a genius test to be considered mentally handicapped. Gamers don't want that slop on a massive scale.
I think it's funny that people are arguing over the quality of code with AI but code doesn't necessarily mean good game design at the end of the day, and that's where the real problem is with the industry. Designing games for vibes was around before AI. xitter.cf/almmaasoglu/status/211…
The amount of entitlement in this short tweet is astounding. Might as well learn nothing and embrace whatever the great AI barfs out, right? xitter.cf/nemui_nekoooo/status/2…
That's a lot of effort to make a PS2 game look like an early 00s PC game. youtube.com/watch?v=fBZoibxX…
Wonder if these video game recompilations will start slowing down once the tokens start getting a lot more expensive because these AI companies are bleeding money left and right and are going to get more desperate to make a profit, triggering the bubble to burst.
Starting to master the physics of this game. Left the CPU in the dust in this race even with them at max difficulty. And I haven't even unlocked the best cars yet!

its of note that in the consumer mind, the worst thing that could happen is not getting anything. nothing about quality at all, its all about not getting more content poured into the trough
Am I losing my mind or is Rush 2 low key one of the best N64 racers? I somehow got hooked on it this week, playing it in the Parallel 64 core on RetroArch with the 8BitDo 64 Controller.
$220 and unlike last time, you're not even getting a game with either one. Glad I have a MiSTER at this point. xitter.cf/analogue/status/211110…

Yep, it's the increasing fragmentation of gamers. Plus, I think algorithms have also contributed to gamers being hyper focused on specific types of games instead of playing a variety of different genres. xitter.cf/_blkcherry_/status/211…

Would love to play a new game that captures the spirit of those classic British rallies and those narrow roads. Or maybe someone can get Mobil 1 Rally Championship working well on modern operating systems. I'd take that as well.
