Reminds me of the person who said he couldn't find any guidance in the New Testament on how to run a Christian government and he couldn't find any guidance in the Koran on how to live as a minority in a pluralistic society.
.@TheLumoProject has made word-for-word adaptations of all four gospels, Acts, and (parts of) the Pentateuch. Now they're tackling the rise of the Israelite monarchy. A new featurette was released today for a film coming out next year. Link in the next tweet.
#DanielandtheFieryFurnace is out on VOD now, and coming to DVD next month. To mark the occasion, here's my interview with Sunjay Midda, the UK actor who plays Hananiah aka Shadrach -- one of the three men who walk into the fiery furnace in question. Link in the next tweet.
I kinda wish it was possible to just address the responses directly instead of first trying to take the high ground by railing against "certainty" and the like. Surely the people who cut these teasers know what they're doing when they release them.
From The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins:
"The number of people who have formed a strong conclusion about what this clip is, how it’s edited, and most humorously, what supernatural beings are supposed to look like, is astonishing. Some folks are even incorrect about what they’re actually seeing in the clip; and yet they’re certain.
"Their opinion about the look, style, race, and gender of supernatural beings is presented as fact. It’s incredible the number of 'experts' who’ve emerged.
"(Of course, if you just don’t like the art of it, I’d still encourage you to watch the full episode before your conclusion. But I have zero doubt nor issue with the fact that some just won’t like it. Wouldn’t be the first time. I’ll live.)
"But to be clear…
"Anyone who claims they know what all supernatural beings look like, or who claims they know what they’re looking at in this clip without having seen the episode, should be seriously questioned. Or ignored."
These angels are also silent, so far. But the biblical angels *speak*. And that raises a whole *other* potential set of issues, given that characters in The Chosen consistently use a pseudo-Middle Eastern accent if they're Jewish, an American accent if they're Euro, etc.
Every episode of #Domina begins with a title card that says how many "years before the birth of Christ" the episode takes place, and that way of phrasing it always makes me wonder if they just mean which year it is "BC" or if they *really* mean how many years *before 4 BC*.
Not really sure how these monochromatic angels fit with the bright lights in the sky that we saw in the Nativity episodes. Also, why are the angels showing up *now* and not, like, when Jesus was praying in Gethsemane?
Also, question: Do these angels talk ever? If so, what accent do they use? The pseudo-Middle-Eastern accent of all the Jewish characters? The modern American accent that everyone else uses? Something completely different from either of those options? Etc.
I thought of Peretti too, but for different reasons. Still, hmmm. A series created by the son of the guy who wrote Left Behind, taking a turn that seems to have been inspired by This Present Darkness. Hmmm. teapaw.org/bazinian_rite/status/2…
Replying to @ptchat
Getting some Frank Peretti vibes, as well, from each angel being modeled on a distinct ethnicity and culture
I got an e-mail with a big quiz headline -- "WHAT IS THE FIRST BOOK IN THE BIBLE?" -- and I suddenly had the urge to go all Narnia-debate in my response and say, "In chronological order or publication order?"
My notes on #TheChosen Season 5 Episode 7. Jesus sends two disciples to prepare the upper room: was it a supernatural secret mission or something sneakier? Also: our first look at John the Baptist's ministry, our introduction to Mark, and more. Link in the next tweet.
