the first paper we read in planning school was Rittel & Webberâs âDilemmas in a general theory of planningâ which is against the cybernetic management of cities. the program was close to a 100% cybernetic approach otherwise. this has been haunting me lately.
the Rittel and Webber paper isnât even something i find precious. itâs just that it expects the reader to have an understanding of cybernetics. it feels like pulling this paper out day one was a way to prevent any of us from forming a critique against cybernetic planning

And those pieces can then, paradoxically be defined by the very adjectives they wield against the film: âarrogant, bombastic, excessiveâŠâ
sadistic glee in so many articles about "Digger" taking this tone as if, written by persons who've never made a movie, will never make a movie, or probably even know anyone who has made a movie, or in fact created anything original & risky, are taking their revenge on those who make themselves vulnerable by doing so.
