Buatsi’s domestic resume is strong: Craig Richards ✅ Dan Azeez ✅ Willy Hutchinson ✅ Liam Conroy ✅
However, Buatsi’s performance against Zach Parker was met with heavy critique. Similarly, his stock value fell after the Callum Smith defeat. Once heralded as a future star of British boxing, Buatsi has since struggled to penetrate into the top world-level bracket.
Are Buatsi’s best days behind him, without really hitting the heights his trajectory was supposed to? Or is that an unfair statement? 🥊

Buatsi outlanded Willy Hutchinson in power punches ✅
Buatsi outlanded him in total punches too ✅
The official scorecard gave none of the last 3 rounds to Buatsi from 1 judge, David Irving ✅
So with commentary arguably against him & Hutchinson being given preferential treatment - according to Buatsi supporters… was he hard done by on the scorecards?
On the other hand, it could be argued that Willy Hutchinson landed a higher % of his punches in every single round. In fact, Hutchinson landed a higher % of jabs, power punches and total shots - across the whole fight.
Buatsi’s body language at the final bell too had a deflated demeanour, whereas Hutchinson’s conviction in his emotions was visibly different. So there’s 2 sides to the story, which leaves this open to interpretation.

I felt it was conclusive, although Buatsi’s late rally did earn him rounds in the latter stages. I felt he won the first too.
Most folks seem to have it a lot closer though, seen 115-113 a lot 🥊

Buatsi & Virgil Hunter’s compatibility has come under serious question, as of late.
Virgil’s success with Andre Ward was largely down to SOG being a selective puncher.
Buatsi’s output is lower now. But that’s not necessarily been for the better.
With that said, however…Joshua Buatsi’s threading needles he previously didn’t 🪡 since pairing up with Hunter.
So technically he’s polished up certain parts of his game. Although perhaps at the expense of his physicality?

Mbilli hit a ceiling in this fight, but his stock value didn’t necessarily fall of a cliff.
The opening 5 rounds of the fight were competitive & then Canelo just stamped his authority on the bout.
After which the rest was a shutout win formality 🥊
