I never imagined that surviving rape would lead me to fight for changes to our justice system.
I was raped at a local business by a man with friendships/connections to members of the OPP.
Speaking up showed me just how vulnerable survivors can feel when they enter a system that is supposed to protect them.
This petition is bigger than my story. It is for every survivor who was afraid to report, who felt unheard or retraumatized by the process, or who walked away wondering why speaking up came at such a devastating cost.
Survivors deserve safety. Survivors deserve to be heard. Survivors deserve a justice system that does not add more trauma to what they have already endured.
