OJ 0.2.0 is out! 🍊 JavaScript workloads now run in-process on @deno_land isolates, no more JS sidecars (yey) On one internal app: • 6 to 2 processes • 4.1 to 1.5 GB • memory stays flat across HMR edits. less machinery and lower overhead

oj is a Rust, npm-free dev server that speaks Vite. I pointed oj at Excalidraw's app without touching a line of its vite.config. It just runs: cold-boots in ~0.8s vs Vite's ~2.3s, on about an eighth of the memory.

I normally don't do these things but this guy is really special! His name is Lito (@avioesemusicas) and he's famous in Brazil for making really fun airplane videos, I watch them all the time too He explains how airplanes work in normal ELI5 language, and also explains airplane crashes etc, lots of people credit him for helping them stop being scared to fly as Lito showed how safe it is If you ever read Hacker News, you know about prions, which they love to discuss, they're one of the scariest things you'll ever read about, as they can flip seemingly at random in your body and cause Creutzfeldt–Jakob, a terminal disease I'm Dutch so we had a big outbreak of mad cow disease in the 1990s when I was a kid and I remember it well. You can get it from eating infected meat (but it's very rare), or prions can flip in your body randomly and cause it, or you can have surgery and one of the surgery tools can have it on them from previous patients The issue with that from what I read is that it's close to impossible to wash off, and it won't die at extreme heats either, you just have to throw away all surgery tools (which you can't) 85% of Creutzfeldt–Jakob is a randomly flipping prion though, so that's most probably Anyway, Lito here can participate in a promising trial by @Harvard @broadinstitute @ionispharma @mayoclinic but the next batch is only in October, so he's hoping the internet (like this tweet) can help him get in earlier, so he has a chance And that trial hopefully helps us find a cure for this crazy disease So if you can spread this, do so! This guy is really awesome, THANK YOU ❤️

Rio term is a rust terminal by @raphamorims that renders with wgpu. Since Flocker makes anything that uses WebGPU easy to run with WASM, I made a quick wasm based rio terminal implementation. Since Flocker gives you a whole plan9 based OS, we can run our rust agent as WASM, talk to it from our WASM flutter app, run rio terminal as a child process, and execute commands inside the OS via the terminal.

Huge congrats on the release! I just integrated rio-vt into my Rust GUI framework to power our new terminal component, and the performance is incredible! Thanks so much for making this standalone engine available—it saved me tons of time.

You could consider librio as well since @raphamorims just made it available
Announcing today rio-vt and librio: Rio's terminal engine, now embeddable. • rio-vt ~ a rust crate, the VT parser, grid, scrollback, selection, search, PTY and Sixel/Kitty/iTerm2 images. • librio: ~ the same core as a C ABI for Swift & C, on macOS, Linux & Windows.

Kompany is the only coach to publicly defend Vinicius and criticize Mourinho. Do you know why? Most coaches are white and can’t relate. Kompany is a black man who has been in the game for decades. He KNOWS racism is a thing and actually wants to address it. More coaches like him.
Vincent Kompany speaks about the Vini Jr/Prestianni incident and racism in football: "It's a difficult topic. I watched the game and was really intrigued by it. There are two different components to the story. First, what happened on the pitch - second, what happened with the fans as well. And then there's what happened after the game. We need to separate them. When you watch the action itself and how Vini reacted, that reaction cannot be faked. You can see it was an emotional reaction. I don't see any benefit for him to go to the referee and put all this misery on his shoulders. In that moment he saw that it was the right thing to do. Kylian Mbappé normally always stays diplomatic, but he was very clear about what he saw and heard. Then there's the Benfica player who was hiding what he was saying in his shirt. In the stadium you can see there were people doing monkey signs, it's in the video. And for me, what happened after the game is even worse. José Mourinho has basically attacked the character of Vini Jr by bringing in the type of Vini's celebration to discredit what he was doing at that moment. It was a huge mistake in terms of leadership. On top of that, Mourinho mentioned the name of Eusébio. He said Benfica cannot be racist because their best ever player was Eusébio. Do you know what black players had to go through in the 60s? Was he there to travel with Eusébio every away game and see what he went through. To use his name today to make a point about Vini Jr. To be honest, I don't actually see my place in a lot of things that are happening today, so I don't want to be part of one group or the other. I met 100 people who worked with José Mourinho. I've never heard someone say something bad about José. All his players love him. I understand the person he is, I understand he fights for his club. I know deep down he's a good person. I don't need to judge him on that. But I also know what I've heard. I understand what he's done, but he made a mistake. Hopefully it won't happen again in the future, and we can move on together"
