I don’t care if this is just how Trump talks or if it’s a negotiation tactic. No leader should feel so comfortable talking about blowing up an entire nation of 90+ million people. Have we become so desensitized that threats to commit war crimes are treated as normal rhetoric?!

Crazy to think that in 2026 we've had: • Anthropic's head of safeguards quit, warning "the world is in peril" (Feb) • OpenAI dissolved its own mission alignment team (Feb) • Unrestricted AI usage for the Pentagon (causing several researchers to quit) • Several AI models escaping sandbox testing (Since ~Q2) • 1,100+ frontier-lab employees signing a letter begging the government to pace AI development (Jul-Aug) And today yet another top researcher saying this.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Neda Dadehjani and Setayesh (Behnoosh) Sarabi, two Iranian women arrested during the January 2026 protests, were flogged 31 times on August 22 and then transferred to Sanandaj Prison to serve their prison sentences. Dadehjani and Sarabi had been sentenced in two separate cases. Branch 102 of the Qorveh Criminal Court sentenced each woman to one year in prison, 31 lashes, and two years of exile to Nikshahr County on charges of “disrupting public order and tranquility.” In a separate case, Branch 1 of the Qorveh Revolutionary Court sentenced each to two years in prison for “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against national security.” Dadehjani is a theater activist who previously received an award at a regional theater festival for people with disabilities.

In a letter from Evin Prison in December 2022, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi exposed the widespread sexual assault and abuse faced by female detainees and protesters and called on the international community to take action. "I saw bruises and scars on her wrists and stomach. She was arrested not from among the street protesters, but while she was going from her home to somewhere else. Nevertheless, she was treated violently when she was arrested. She was handcuffed, and her hands and legs were tied to a hook above her head in the vehicle taking her to prison. While she was hanging like this, the officers molested her with their hands." iranwire.com/en/politics/111…
