In every single country that passed age verification laws: 1) databases got leaked 2) innocent websites got censored 3) governments became more censorship heavy 4) protests became more criminalized 5) information got harder to find

EU’s 15-year betrayal of Europe’s borders and your free speech - 2015–2016: Migration crisis explodes. Over 1 MILLION illegal crossings in a single year. Merkel’s “wir schaffen das” opens the floodgates. EU leaders let boats keep coming while Frontex watches. - 2018: EU tries to BAN MEMES forever. Article 13 (later 17) of the Copyright Directive forces upload filters on every platform. Memes, GIFs, and parodies are all at risk of instant deletion. Massive backlash forces weak “exceptions”, but the censorship machine is born. - 2022: Digital Services Act (DSA) goes live. “Illegal content” now means whatever Brussels calls hate speech or disinformation. Platforms face 6% of global revenue fines for not censoring fast enough. - 2023–2024: DSA enforcement ramps up. EU holds 100+ secret meetings with Big Tech to scrub COVID skepticism, migration criticism, and “populist” speech, even targeting content outside Europe. X gets hit with massive fines for resisting. - 2024: Illegal border crossings are still in the hundreds of thousands annually. EU admits it can’t (or won’t) stop the boats. But suddenly claims it can perfectly control what you read online. - 2024: Ursula von der Leyen is reelected as EU Commission President without a single vote from any EU citizen. No one ever voted for the person running the entire EU, pure dictatorship: the unelected president who controls everything was never on your ballot. - 2025: Commission drops DSA guidelines on “protecting minors.” Age verification becomes the new excuse for total internet control. - 2025–2026: “Unbypassable” EU-wide age verification app rolls out. Technically ready April 2026, mandatory rollout by the end of 2026. Uses passports + face scans. They know VPNs bypass it… so Denmark, France, and EU insiders openly discuss VPN crackdowns and device-level blocks. - 2026: ProtectEU roadmap calls anonymity and VPNs “problems to solve.” Borders remain optional after 15+ years of failure… but your internet, your memes, your VPN, and your speech are now fully policed. The EU couldn’t secure a single border after a decade and a half of crisis. But they built the perfect machine to control what every European is allowed to see, say, and share online. They don’t care about your safety. They care about what you are allowed to think about.

Requiring ID to use the internet is a manifestation of the police state and should be opposed at every turn.
There are lots of areas in Irish and European society where we decide an age below which an activity is not permitted. It’s not a new concept. And many European countries have indicated they plan to act @morningireland

"I swear, it will never leave your device" is probably the lie all the ID merchants will pull from now on.

The year is 2026, you now need a face scan and your real ID to access the internet Posting memes and whatever you say online is heavily regulated to the point you're charged worse than murderers in the court of law. You're told its to protect kids and not about censorship

The UK government could soon be asking its citizens to provide ID to access Wikipedia. Wikipedia has argued in court that the Online Safety Act’s “Category 1” duties mean that it would be forced to verify users’ identities. The High Court has rejected this challenge. 1/3
