This was Emma’s last project. She gave it her everything, working out of hospitals in very difficult circumstances. In the end she ran out of time and life. I then spent the next 18 months doing my best to complete the project as Emma had envisaged it. cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Check out this impressive new book by @tiffanyfairey : a comprehensive and insightful engagement with peace photography. I was honoured to write a forword, but found it hard to find words that do not completely fade in coparison to the ones that follow. edinburghuniversitypress.com…

Massive thanks to the IT team, and especially David Welch, for their exceptional editorial guidance and support. This has been one of my best publishing experiences. Big tanks also to three anonymous referees for two rounds of unusually detailed and insightful reports.

Emma would be pleased, I think, to see her voice - and three of my photographs of her - out in The Lancet this week. This was a big concern for her: trying to make people understand how it feels to live with kidney disease and its daily challenges. rolandbleiker.com/news/https…
Big thanks to my wonderful co-conspirators Zoltan Endre & @DrSophieHarman & Lancet editor Joanna Palmer. Next step is to introduce, edit and annotate all of Emma’s 19 Dialysis Day blogs - written over a decade - and publish them as a book that draws awareness to kidney disease.
