LENTE holds a discussion with COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia to advance priority electoral reforms ahead of the 2nd Regular Session of Congress. The discussion focused on reforms to strengthen electoral accessibility and inclusion for vulnerable and underrepresented sectors nationwide, with particular attention to the upcoming BARMM Parliamentary Elections. Chairperson Garcia reaffirmed his commitment to making elections more inclusive and to strengthening the COMELEC offices that directly serve these sectors. LENTE also shared its election monitoring plans for the upcoming BARMM Parliamentary Elections, reaffirming its role as election monitor committed to promoting accountable, inclusive, transparent, and credible electoral processes. 𝗞𝗨𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗫! 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟱 On June 25, 2026, advocates of electoral inclusion and accessibility from government and civil society gathered for the 5th installment of LENTE's Kumustahan series. Stakeholders convened to discuss the Electoral Accessibility Bill, along with the coalition's advocacy and strategy timeline in preparation for the opening of the 2nd Regular Session this July. The 𝙆𝙪𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙩 𝙆𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙫𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧 partners began in 2024 as a way to continue the conversation with longstanding advocates who have been pushing for reforms and initiatives to improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of elections.

LENTE met with Professor Fernando of the University of Nottingham who is a leading expert in political parties and party system, party system institutionalization, and political finance and funding regulation. During the discussion, opportunities for collaboration on reforms to strengthen BARMM’s regional political party system and level the playing field were discussed, especially after the first and historic 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections. LOOK: LENTE conducts consultations with reform partners for inclusive BARMM Parliamentary Elections On May 25 to 26, LENTE consulted with partner Ministries and Offices in BARMM on our longstanding advocacy to establish a dedicated Vulnerable Sectors Unit in the Bangsamoro Electoral Office. This is also part of the organization's broader efforts to make the historic 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections inclusive and accessible.

The Bangsamoro Parliament should strengthen, not continue to dismantle, the electoral and governance reforms that protect equal political participation, genuine party development, and good governance towards a new reality envisioned for the Bangsamoro people. Read LENTE’s full statement below.

𝙃𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧, 𝙇𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙀 𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝘽𝘼𝙍𝙈𝙈 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟖.
