Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette says the U.S. approached Quebec about negotiating a separate trade deal with America, and she turned it down because Quebec wanted to maintain a common Canadian front. I’ve been suspicious for a while about Washington’s interest in Canada’s internal divisions. And we already know Alberta separatist groups have met with U.S. State Department officials multiple times to discuss Alberta’s potential separation from Canada. Does this prove the U.S. is behind Alberta’s separatist movement? No! But it certainly raises questions about how interested Washington is in Canada becoming less united. Meanwhile, 72% of Albertans say they would vote to remain in Canada, according to an Ipsos poll. Only 18% said they would vote for separation. So while the separatist bots can be VERY loud online, the numbers tell a different story. Canada is still Canada and will remain United 🇨🇦

It has been an immense honour to serve my constituents and all Canadians in Parliament since 2013. Last fall, I stepped down from Cabinet and announced that I would not be seeking re-election, and that I would be taking on new full-time professional roles outside politics beginning this summer. On Monday, I announced my intention to leave the House of Commons in the coming weeks. Today, I have written to the Speaker to confirm that I will vacate my seat effective this Friday, January 9. One of the roles I will be taking on is as an unpaid advisor on economic issues to the President of Ukraine. This is a volunteer position, and I have consulted throughout with the Ethics Commissioner and followed his advice. Going forward I will continue to support and help build Canada in every way I can, while championing the brave fight of the people of Ukraine, a cause I have been committed to my entire life.

From the creators of: “Kyiv will fall within days and the Ukrainan military has no fighting chance against great invincible Russia.” “Ukraine will fall within the next 30 days, vol. 2847” “Ukraine has only six months left” “Western weapons won't make any difference to Ukraine” “Western weapos are too sophisticated for Ukraine to use” “Putin just can’t lose because WWII and Napoleon, so Ukraine needs to surrender now, or else.” Etc etc etc And of course, as it always happened with such primitive garbage takes all these years of war, Ukraine will still be standing and Russia will still be not even close to its maximalist imperialist goals by spring 2026, but hey - what do we know about real journalism from high-minded Moscow-based Eastern Europe specialists.

BREAKING: Donald Trump gets devastating news as billionaire Mark Cuban and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman join forces and unite over 100 venture capitalists to back Kamala Harris for president. And it gets even better... "We spend our days looking for, investing in and supporting entrepreneurs who are building the future," reads the "VCs for Kamala" website. "We are pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress." "We also believe in democracy as the backbone of our nation," the site goes on. "We believe that strong, trustworthy institutions are a feature, not a bug, and that our industry — and every other industry — would collapse without them." "That is what’s at stake in this election. Everything else, we can solve through constructive dialogue with political leaders and institutions willing to talk to us. In this pivotal moment, we are united in our support for Vice President Kamala Harris," it reads. The announcement is a powerful rebuke to far-right Silicon Valley billionaires like Elon Musk who have thrown their support behind Donald Trump's fascist movement in the hopes of more tax cuts. Please retweet and ❤️ to thank Mark Cuban and his allies for supporting Kamala — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a new pro-democracy social network that is exploding in popularity because Twitter and Facebook are trying to stop its growth — which is only making Tribel grow even faster.
