New fav wood, Padouk. As with Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba), it's photosensitive and oxidizes after sanding or cutting, causing the bright colors to darken and change. Padouk's fresh neon orange appears and then moves towards a darker red-orange. I had a Brazilian Cherry floor installed once, and around the windows the things causing shadows projected their images onto the floor. That went away.
Pretty. You can mostly arrest the color change where you want--or slow it way down--with the right finishes. That probably wouldn't work as flooring, though.
