Netanyahu's response to the settler attack on Washington Post photographer in the West Bank
The Prime Minister’s Office: The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation. Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable. But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual. The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence. We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.

An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City overnight targeted senior Hamas official Ali al-Amoudi, according to a security source, with Palestinian media reporting five people killed. The strike hit a building in western Gaza City. Palestinian media reported that those killed included a young man, a mother and her daughter, and two other adult women. Amoudi was not named among the dead. The IDF has not yet commented on the strike as it assesses the results. Amoudi has been reported to be a frontrunner to succeed Khalil al-Hayya as head of Hamas’s political bureau in the Gaza Strip. He is currently believed to be the de facto senior-most Hamas political official in the Strip.

In an op-ed for The New York Times, I argue that saving Gaza & its Palestinian people requires resisting Hamas, weaving in personal themes, addressing issues with the Left & "pro-Palestine" movement & proposing a vision for Gaza's future Transformation. nytimes.com/2026/09/04/opini…
