Please RT - We are looking for someone who wants to establish and lead a cutting-edge neuroimaging center at Northwestern, working closely with multiple labs, including my own, in neuroscience research broadly construed.
If you are curious, dm me and Im happy to answer questions
We are hiring an Associate or Full Professor to lead the neuroimaging research program at Northwestern's Center for Translational Imaging in the Department of Radiology

(1/5) Our paper is out now in Neuron!
xitter.cf/NeuroCellPress/status/…
The LPFC has fine-scale organization that gets missed in group-averaged data because of inter-individual variability. It is visible in individuals in both resting-state and task data.

Very excited about this project, led by @zach_ladwig
We show that the individual lateral prefrontal cortex has reliable and highly detailed network organization missed in past group approaches.
Full🧵 coming soon!

When you imagine a waterfall, your brain doesn’t just activate visual or auditory areas. A small study suggests imagination and perception overlap in higher-level brain regions that process multiple types of sensory input.

Online now: Mental imagery and perception overlap within transmodal association networks dlvr.it/TRqTBy
Our paper is out! This has been years in the making.
We found that mental imagery and perception do share a neural substrate, but we see it in in higher-order transmodal networks rather than earlier sensory systems. Check it out!

Our new review paper on how to interpret individual differences in brain network organization, as well as what these differences may mean functionally and how they might arise!
Thanks to @GrattonCaterina for inviting me to contribute to this!
Why do brain 🧠 networks vary? Do these differences shape behavior? If every 🧠 is unique, how can we detect common features of brain organization?
@RodBraga and I explore these questions in our new piece in @AnnualReviews (ahead of print):

I’m very excited to share my FIRST first-author preprint - the result of my @NuinComm graduate school lab rotation with Lisa Johnson!
We detected HFB in babies (1-4 months) noninvasively using scalp EEG, distinguishing wake from sleep states. 👶

🚨 New Preprint 🚨
Targeting intracranial electrical stimulation (ES) to network regions defined within individuals causes network-level effects
By Cyr et al.
Q: Can we use individualized network maps from precision fMRI to modulate a targeted network via ES?
A: Yes!

This fall, I'll be starting as an assistant professor at Brigham Young University @BYU in Psychology @BYU_Psychology. My lab will study memory and mental imagery and the brain networks that support them. I'm excited to engage with BYU students and collaborate with new colleagues!
New preprint!
My major project from my postdoc is finally out. Check out our study using precision fMRI to explore mental imagery and self-generated mental states, and the brain systems that support these processes!

I enjoyed recruiting participants, collecting data, and defining individualized networks for our intracranial projects - check out Nate’s work on Monday, not Wednesday!
For those in Chicago for @SfNtweets, welcome! Come check out our poster (Wed 1-5pm; I'm there at 4!). We recorded iEEG during a mental imagery task, with rsfc-MRI networks in the same patients. Come learn about changes in temporal dynamics across different functional networks!
And by Wednesday, I of course mean Monday. Thanks @aniaholubecki for the catch!
