Your son is 14. He wants to download a game his friends are playing.
The app asks for a face scan to verify his age. You are told it is to keep him safe. You hold the phone while he looks into the camera.
His face is now in a database. Tied to his name. Tied to every account he opens. For the rest of his life.
Years later, that profile decides what he can access. What he can say. What he can buy.
You did not protect him. You helped enroll him.
This is what online child safety laws are building. A digital ID for every person, starting with our children.
Share this with a parent who thinks age verification is harmless.

Your best friend refuses to install the required tracking app.
No law says he has to. But the system does not wait for laws. His credit score drops. His lease is not renewed. His kids are denied enrollment.
You offer to let his family stay with you. Your landlord sends a notice. Remove them in 30 days or face eviction.
Now you are the enforcer. That is the design.
This is coming with digital ID and automated compliance. Most people have no idea.
Share this so they see it before it goes live.

It angers me that politicians are using "protecting children" as their way to sell digital ID and mass surveillance.
They absolutely know what they are doing with these policies. By the time people realize just how bad and consequential these laws are we will be so far down the road, it will be impossible to put that genie back in the bottle.
Wake up
They’re using “protect the kids” to pass 1984-style state surveillance policies.
Age verification, parent-child linking, device-level tracking, and government-mandated data collection — all required so platforms can enforce the rules. By the time most people realize what was actually built, the systems are already in place.

Protecting kids doesn’t require a digital ID.

Guys, if they really planned on shutting the internet down, they wouldn't be pushing a fuckton of internet regulation bills.
This is fear-mongering. Push past it. We got this.

Oppose age verification like you would oppose Flock cameras because age verification brings Flock to your home and personal life.

Remember to tell your neighbors what Age Verification is, why it's bad – speech with extra steps is not free speech, and to contact their elected officials and tell them to say no to this nonsense.
And also tell your neighbors to go the to the polls when the time comes.
Why is Digital ID a hill to die on?
Jim wakes up on Monday morning, his phone flashes.
IDENTITY VERIFICATION FAILED.
He tries to access a government service, he’s locked out, he tries to prove who he is and the computer says no.
He rings for help, another computer answers, nobody knows why he’s been flagged, nobody can tell him who made the decision.
Jim hasn’t been arrested, he hasn’t been convicted of anything, he’s simply become a problem in a database.
And in a world where AI can make decisions at enormous speed, the real danger isn’t necessarily some politician personally targeting you.
It’s a system powerful enough to ruin your Monday morning without a single human being taking responsibility.
You are Jim.

Aside from mass personal data collection, the biggest reason why they enacted the Online Safety Act is to literally destroy independent online communities and bring them onto corporate platforms.
So much for those who preach "holding Big Tech accountable."
The Online Safety Act has made hosting community forums so laborious that they're closing shop.
Hundreds of forums have shuttered due to piling paperwork and liability risks.
Ordinary speech from ordinary people, gone.
