Yesterday, we were proud to celebrate Professor Mary McCarron, Director of TCAID, as the inaugural recipient of the Dean’s Award for Distinguished Service to Health Sciences at @tcddublin 👏 This honour recognises her outstanding leadership and lasting impact across research, education, and policy in intellectual disability and ageing. The award ceremony also marked the unveiling of a new portrait of Professor McCarron, commemorating her two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences—the first woman and nurse to hold the role at Trinity. 🎉 Congratulations, Professor McCarron, on this well-deserved recognition! We also extend our warmest congratulations to all recipients of last night’s Dean’s Awards—especially @eilish_king1, PhD student with TCAID and member of @OccTherapyTCD, awarded for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching in Professional Practice, and @LucianaLolich, Impact Officer to @TCD_SNM, recipient of the Professional & Support Staff Award for Innovations with Impact. Yesterday, Professor @EilishBurke15 and Stephanie Corrigan hosted a Women’s Health Seminar at @StewartsCare, focusing on health and menopause for women with intellectual disabilities. Drawing from IDS-TILDA research, they highlighted the unique challenges these women face during menopause. Stephanie, who is completing her PhD in collaboration with Stewarts Care, also shared insights into the mental health impacts of menopause for women with intellectual disabilities. IDS-TILDA continues to deliver critical evidence that is actively being used to shape both practice and policy, ensuring services are informed by the latest research to meet the evolving needs of people with ID as they age, while also building important collaborative relationships across sectors to drive meaningful improvements in care A big thank you to @louiseOReilRNID for organising this important event and to everyone who attended!
