Most recent insane fixation I was thinking of sharing: A language with monosyllabic roots, like Chinese, in exclusively CV form, but without tone. And easy to pronounce (for me). This plus nasality contrast gives 1302 syllables, comparable to Mandarin (with tonal contrasts!)

it's fine, I can still see all of my posts, and I didn't have anything special saved in the PMs, I'll just make a new account

Every month there's a new porny gaybaiting web personality that all the gay guys on here are apparently deeply invested in "Did you know erexxxican is actually Algerian and homophobic?? He announced he's no longer going to shove knitting needles up his urethra!!"

The degree of social atomization and isolation I experience in a single day would cause a Victorian era office clerk or draughtsman to drink himself to a rapid death

Just found out the Hungarian restaurant I went to on both my trips to Toronto closed three years ago. Sad!

Friend is on a trip across central Europe and mentioned how he's embarrassed by the fact that he can recognize other Americans in restaurants and public places just from the sound of their voice—not even the volume or the words, just the completely American vocal quality

Last-minute brainstorming for a possible Sunday day trip and realizing I've never gone more than 40 minutes or so to the southeast, and there is *some* stuff there, but the vibes of the region are kind of 😕😕😕😕😕 Like...

I love the various Native American place names around Buffalo—Niagara, Cheektowaga, Lackawanna—and I lived about two minutes away from Tonawanda for years. A humble yet charming neighborhood. Here's some of my pics of Tonawanda (the city and the town) and North Tonawanda
I once saw Aretha Franklin in Lewiston, NY and she went on a tangent about visiting Tonawanda, a Buffalo suburb “Tonawanda, Tonawanda—what a beautiful name. I want to live in To-na-WANDA” (Nobody has ever, in fact, said this about Tonawanda)
