Am discovering, via You Can See Everything discourse, that many people do not understand what is or is not ethical and many more don’t care

Re: “the machine can do these tests,” Fielder never really attempts to parse the lie. It’s not difficult to articulate the difference between having the capacity to do something *in theory* vs. *in practice*. He’s not actually trying to get a straight answer! That’s not his goal!
Almost done with my first bell hooks book (All About Love) and have found it quite insightful. Mostly affirming, I suppose, to find that my own discoveries and thoughts about love align with someone smarter than me

there's a part of Moby Dick where they hunt and kill a North Atlantic Right Whale not even for oil but to use its severed head to counterweight a sperm whale head hanging off the ship.
there's like less than 500 right whales left in the wild today. almost gone forever.
Seems like “performative” is headed the route of “genuinely” and “lowkey” where the original sense of the word is lost and it is solely used as an interchangeable intensifier. 😔
This is the kind of thing that makes me happy about the internet and then like 10 hours later something like this has a community note saying it’s fake or something. I hope the 500 year old butt jingle is true.

I got a lightbar thing that dramatically improves the lighting in my living room. I have to turn it on with an all, tho. The app has ads. I know that advertising seeks to invade every nook and cranny of our lives, but must we? Is nothing sacred?
Also when I was a child, you could pump your gas in peace. Now they play an ad at you while you pump your gas. They make you watch an ad in the Lyft app while you wait to get a driver!
In desperate need of comfort food, self care, and feeling good, I am going to watch HEAT and cook a steak for dinner.
