FE need to get in the game - where's their commitment to the Nature Recovery Network. How does this qualify as 'sustainable forestry'??? @simonbarneswild @georgemonbiot
All very good points. This isn't anti-tree, nothing more splendid than an oak woodland but sometimes FE you're planting the wrong trees in the wrong place. @suesustainable @simonbarneswild @GeorgeMonbiot
Agree, and such small areas of FE’s estate in southern England. @RSPBEngland @DorsetHeaths @DorsetAONB @dorset_lnp

We put the first colour rings on our Little Terns on the Chesil this morning. They are growing fast. Thanks to all those who gave us sight records earlier. Much appreciated. One 1999 bird has been sighted @Little_tern19 @ATChesil @CWPhoto11 @PortlandBirdObs

We're still attempting to save the nest site of a large colony who have been returning for over 60 years. Please support us by retweeting and liking ❤️We're hoping the developers will engage with us and we can have a "Good News Story" to tell #savethedorkingswifts @ChrisGPackham

Couldn’t agree more. We need fewer Corsican pines in Wareham Forest and much more heathland.
Can't get my head around this! A disaster for sure but fundraising for a government body to replace 'stock' meaning non-native Pine?! Agree to restoring precious heathland but this feel iffy to me... @DorsetBirdClub @harbourbirds forestryengland.uk/help-ware…

Many new nests established following on from the storm, the birds are bouncing back! There are now plenty of chicks exploring too. They are growing astronomically fast, thanks to their parents' fishing talents and abundant sand eel populations! facebook.com/DenbighshireCou… #littletern

Absolutely James. If you’re going to tell a porky pie, tell a whopper.

Lovely EDF commercial on TV last night but funnily enough no mention of current Sizewell proposals and the threat to one of the RSPB’s most iconic reserves.

Chesil update: 20-25 pairs nesting so far. Good bank holiday weekend with low levels of disturbance. Photo of 'Z43' taken last Thursday (Angela Thomas).

With Dorset coastal car parks open again from today, this is more relevant than ever. Please take care when visiting Chesil and the Fleet.

Plant pots knocked over and a small pile of poo. Think we have hedgehogs in the garden. Excellent.

Shows the importance of good science from strong institutions. Viva Imperial!
Never been prouder to be a graduate of @imperialcollege. You guys at @Imperial_JIDEA are doing the most phenomenal Covid 19 research 👍. I’ll be clapping for you too tonight 👏👏👏 (@SteveTrotter1 @richarcher01)

This is crazy: EA provide clear and unambiguous info on flood risk zones but have no powers to prevent houses being built in high risk areas. This is not fair on new house owners or the public purse @guyshrubsole @EUEnvironment theguardian.com/environment/…

If you think Ayrshire needs a National Nature Reserve rather more than another bloomless golf course please let @nature_scot and @NicolaSturgeon know your thoughts. Nicola, you grew up nearby and must surely care a little for the natural heritage & beauty of the Ardeer Peninsula.
Replying to @bugsymac1
Dear @nature_scot @NicolaSturgeon - what is the prospect for also securing a decent future for the Ardeer Peninsula in Ayrshire which is just as important and full of rare species? Why is not even a SSSI? This is scandalous when all the evidence supporting notification is there.
Dogs are wonderful, but. Just completed a 3-year study of high-tide roost disturbance on the Severn. Uncontrolled dogs are a major problem, surely are in PH too.
Have a view or any thoughts on dogs in public places in Dorset?? Have your say here dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/your-co… @DorsetBirdClub @BCPCouncil @Bournemouthecho @RSPBArne

Brexit day today. Let’s not turn our backs entirely on our continental neighbours. Been watching ‘Hurricane’ about RAF 303 squadron in WW2. Over 140 pilots (20%) of our airforce in Battle of Britain were Polish, our allies during our ‘darkest hour’.

It’s called a floodplain, that’s what flood plains do.
Our region has seen some soggy conditions over the past few days. Here's some drone footage from a pretty sodden Langport in Somerset bit.ly/38RU8l0

I just wonder where the Making Space for Water agenda went? OK having more money but please not just to pour concrete and dredge. Use the flood plains as flood plains.
To those who criticise @EnvAgency about investment, they don’t set budgets, @hmtreasury do and @DefraGovUK ministers have to fight for it. Climate change isn’t an excuse for inaction it’s a siren for more action that our politicians should hear loud & clear.
