#Swifties @ElenaDurnbaugh @GongwerMichigan & @MaggieGeorge @MIRSnews are working the #MILeg's marathon session. Elena’s sporting her “1989” swag while Maggie’s in her “Lover” sweater. @taylorswift13's drops at midnight & they'll probably have plenty of time for a listen.
As of 12:01 am, Michigan gov't is operating w/out a budget. @GovWhitmer has said "state gov't will continue and work will go on"
State employees have been told by Gov Gretchen Whitmer’s admin to show up for work tomorrow because there will be a budget deal or a short-term extension of the current budget, UAW Local 6000 president tells MI Public Radio. Local 6000 is one of the largest state employee unions.

Lansing rn: Basically it's like 'hey we can have a partial government shutdown' OR 'we can pass a budget before 12:01a.' And, instead, someone else IN POWER was like: BUT WHAT IF THERE IS A THIRD WAY WE'VE NEVER TRIED BEFORE.
Listen for it on your local MI public radio station

@rickpluta finished a *very* interesting conversation with former MI Gov @SecGranholm... her thoughts on stalled budget negotations in Lansing + @mikeeduggan independent run for governor. Posting shortly...
Since everyone's getting worked up by the f-bomb, l'd like the record to reflect that I was once double mother-f***ered by Detroit Mayor Coleman Young.

@rickpluta and I have been talking about this since Tate announced he's not running for Mayor. How much *actual* money are Ds willing to spend on an already safe-D seat in a year when there's OPEN Gov, Senate, AG, SOS races PLUS toss up/swing U.S. House seats + entire state House and Senate.
NEW - MI Dems are plotting to oust Rep. Shri Thanedar again
-State Rep. Donavan McKinney seriously considering a run, per two ppl
-former state House Speaker Joe Tate didn't rule it out
-Adam Hollier also taking a look

The House passes a minimum wage compromise bill.
It would:
Speed up the timeline for workers making $15/hr
Cap the min wage for tipped workers at 50% what others make
Now it goes to the governor
There will be surprises
MI 2026: OPEN GOV, SOS, AG, US SENATE (!!). ENTIRE STATE HOUSE. ENTIRESTATE SENATE. US HOUSE DELEGATION. 2 STATE SUPCO SEATS. #thatsitthatsthetweet
MI Secretary of State @JocelynBenson Benson says she is running for governor. She is the 1st Democrat to announce she is seeking the nomination to appear on the '26 ballot. Benson is running to replace @GovWhitmer Gretchen Whitmer, who cannot run again because of term limits.
