That investigation was so well done & exposed Uber’s exploitative business model.
Seeing “progressive” political staffers not resist Uber’s political pressure is disheartening.
Mitigating political risk for their leaders turns workers away from the NDP & progressive politics.

You'd think #Uber would support secure infrastructure to keep its workers safe; instead, it is part of TRBT's task force that asks for the removal of bike lanes & curbside cafes in #TOpoli.
Not a word from @J_Brockman & @Uber in support of bike lanes...

“They're asking these gig work companies to report as if we're employees, but we don't have any worker rights.” - @earlwithana #Uber cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/d…
This is big.
Toronto’s City Council has named the problem - ride-hailing gig employers can and do depend on predatory practices, and the impacts are felt throughout our communities - and has put this problem on the agenda of all three levels of government.

Councillor Gord Perks asks City Manager Paul Johnson about the various subsidy programs the city offers for low-income people.
"There's a strong correlation that says we would have fewer of these subsidy programs if people just had the right wage," says Johnson.

$1.74/hour. That’s what a @TorontoStar reporter earned delivering for Uber Eats.
Gig workers deserve:

Vincent Puhakka tells Executive Committee why we support a congestion cap on rideshare licenses, with no EV exemption.
Unreliable transit has driven people into the waiting arms of rideshare companies. But all the Ubers cruising around downtown are not helping #TTC reliability!
Toronto needs a Congestion Cap!
Rideshare companies should be regulated to:
🚗 tackle poverty wages of drivers (less than $6/hour when time and expenses taken into account)
🚗 ease traffic congestion
🚇 improve and fix gaps in #TTC service (1/3)
