I think I'm either done developing on Roblox indefinitely or taking a long absence and moving to Unity to try things out. I've been on the platform for 10 years, worked on a lot of stuff never shipped anything myself because my "games" would run into engine level issues constantly that did not make sense to sink time into searching for a way to work around. Final nail in the coffin for me was watching a friend of mine lose his income over night without reason and realized yeah I've been worried about that happening to me for too long. Mental and emotional health has not been the greatest in the last few years due to platform changes in development, algorithm engagement/discovery, decreased player intelligence and moderation instability. Truth be told, Roblox as a platform has a lot of great things but as someone who's been around for 10 years and seen too much, I cannot be here anymore. I don't even tell anyone in the real world what I do for a living because theres so much bad news about Roblox and the players and community at a large that I dont really want to be associated with the platform in the real world. Its not been great for me or others. I really just want to make a game and not have to deal with bullshit from the "community" or moderation or algorithm or anything and I just dont believe that is possible anymore. Its been a childhood dream of mine to make a game on the platform that I would be proud of but the truth is thats just not going to happen and I have to move on to greener pastures. And to be truthful, I want to make a game, not a roblox game. Blocky characters aren't limited to just Roblox... idk, been thinking a lot while playing Vintage Story and finding myself enjoying that a lot more then being on platform. Literally any activity that does not involve Roblox has been enjoyable. I've made my money on platform and thankful for what it got me In the past 6 years but its time to move on and do something else.
