I've long been an advocate (and user) of notches, even as a non-spacie, because it helps guide muscle memory across the horribly inconsistent OEM analog outputs. Phobs can now calibrate pretty consistently on an octo-gate so notches are less necessary to make controller-switching less of an rng management chore. That being said, they aren't inherently "bad" or cheating. Controller rules should be a function of how we define "valued skills" in competition. If the community at large decides that "hitting analog values accurately" is a highly valued skill, I'd definitely be okay banning boxes.
