lots of detail in this @tariqpanja story about FIFA paying Gianni Infantino's US taxes, but the best has to be about Infantino living in Eric Schmidt's $27 million Miami home and then Marc Anthony's $8.6 million former apartment

Musk's most extensive comments on the midterms thus far, but they're not exactly new.
If you've followed Musk long enough, you see the patterns he uses in deploying fear as a existential motivator at his companies and during election cycles.
At SpaceX, he has told workers that their mission is to make human life multiplanetary in case something catastrophic happens to Earth. Similarly, during the 2024 presidential election, he told people that it would be the "last election in America" if people did not vote for Trump.
Democrats controlled the presidency, house and senate for the first two years of Biden's term and did not do any of these things. During the 2022 midterms, Musk urged people to vote Republican because "shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties." Now he's pushing for the continued GOP domination of all branches of gov.

My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:
1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesnโt happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.
but also....it rules?

missed opportunity for Gooniverse tbh

As the White House and Elon Musk point fingers at one another over who restricted Starshield to Ukraine, here are some of the real life repercussions for troops on the front lines.

The Starlink/Starshield blame game continues, and no one is taking responsibility for limiting the satellite internet services to Ukrainians. Musk last week said the decision was with Trump. Now, Rubio says that Musk had the decision-making power.

the reporting and photography, including of this Madagascar child drinking from a gold mine's waste water pipe, is incredible. the story is infuriating.
a look at how dirty gold is laundered into the world economy, with help from the one org meant to regulate it.

There are about 72 million kids under the age of 18 in the US. SpaceX's closing share price on Friday was $146.03.
If Musk were to actually follow through on this commitment, his gift would currently amount to around $10.5 billion.
Also worth noting that Musk has a history of making philanthropic pledges and not following through.
In 2018, he pledged to โfund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels.โ He did not.
