I can't stop gushing over @asmartbear's new Hidden Multipliers book. So instead of flooding my feed, I'm starting this thread. If you want to see how the book has changed my work over the last couple of days and in the weeks to come, follow this thread.

When I was a student at VCU, I used Little Ram Pantries when I needed food. Now I'm the lead research engineer on the tech behind them. 16 pantries have sensors and shelf cameras across two campuses, so students can check what's stocked before they walk over. And we have much more insight into the why and how behind pantry usage. About 13,200 visits since 2021 and only going up.
VCU’s Little Ram Pantries have received upgraded technology to help address student food insecurity. New sensors can show the inventory of each location and help monitor usage while preserving privacy. news.vcu.edu/article/little-…

This worked for the second month in a row! I double-checked it because I was paranoid, but I'm very pleased with delegating forecasting and bookkeeping to @bot.
Ok. This worked out. My new bot, Crunch, now 1. Reviews all purchases in YNAB every week and notifies me if there is something new that hasn't been classified before. 2. Resolves YNAB with my forecasting spreadsheet once a month to see if we were above our targets. 3. Updates the forecast based on our spending.

I've moved my CRM from Notion -> Close -> Google Sheets -> Things App -> back to Close. AMA

Number 2 is the biggest thing I push back when people come to me asking to show up in AI search. “Do you know your target persona?” “How do you know your loss of traffic is the loss of ICP visitors?” I can’t help you show up in search and your audience if you don’t know that
Re the "AI marketing" part: Way too many people are approaching marketing with AI the wrong way. Three main problems: 1. Everyone wants to jump to automation and skip the manual/grindy work that makes it effective 2. They don't know their customers and the buying process well enough 3. They're doing all the same things everyone else is doing...if everyone is doing it, it's going to be harder to make it work The better you are at #2, the easier it will be to not have a problem with #3.

lol. I’m just now realizing I wrote “number 2 is the thing I push back…”

Instead we focus on those things first then we start talking about AI search.

So I've been trying to stand up our sales team and test out Close CRM. I didn't want to fully commit to their workflows, as I'm still evaluating the process. So I connected @bot to their MCP. It now reminds me daily of next actions if a lead/contact hasn't responded.

Do I have any friends who use @forestapp_cc? I'm trying to connect with them to earn their latest challenge. They've gamified Pomodoros, and I'm all in.

This feels like a cheat code. Recorded a skill via @claudeai Desktop on my Mac. Created a new repo in @github to exercise the new skill. Loaded the repo into @cursor_ai so I can answer some of the skill's questions on my phone while I wait for my son's soccer game.

The skill output will immediately benefit my workflows, and the skill itself can serve as a marketing offer.

In this use case, the output is a funnel spec that I stand up @close for a BDR I'm bringing onto the @Knowatoa team. But that's not the point. The two big points are 1. That delegating to AI work can travel with me when I want to access it. 2. Skills are a new way of sharing your workflows with people.

Trying to record some skills based on @coreyhainesco @MicroConf talk. I've already been building one-offs in Cursor. Using Claude here was underwhelming. For some reason, it couldn't capture my voice during the session. Has anyone tried this out in Codex?

I definitely have agent PRs that have been sitting around for months. “Some of my projects sit for days between turns.”
Two habits that help me run more agents without holding it all in my head.

A theory: people are expressing exhaustion from working with AIs and agents. I suspect it’s like having multiple employees who are constantly interrupting you with tedious details. You never get to hit your own flow state and hold all these open loops in your head. Especially while token maxing.

As much as I love hitting my conference goals, these are the kinds of messages that fill my cup. I still get that nervous energy when going to conferences, so I try to be as hospitable as I can. The @MicroConf community makes that super easy, though!

Here’s my favorite internet friends connection at @MicroConf. @benediktdeicke and I have been part of the same bootstrapping community for over a decade. It went from an open source chat to HipChat to Slack. You should ask him about how he met his wife. It’s an old school internet meet cute.
