I like to look at claims like this in case I can improve Ghostty. I grabbed your source and immediately spotted the issue: your read loop overwrites a 64 KiB ring. Everything older is discarded unparsed per tick. You're faster because you're not actually terminal emulating. It means the number isn't a throughput number. In a kitten benchmark run at the rate you're claiming, roughly 6.6 MB arrives per 60 Hz tick and 64 KiB of it gets parsed. You're read(2)-ing 100% of the data and parsing about 1% of it. There are other minor issues (a small fixed scrollback in a preallocated ring buffer, no grapheme clustering, throwing away data like OSC 8 URIs, etc.), but the major one is simply that you're discarding ~99% of the input. For plain text, e.g. your cat benchmark, the final screen ends up looking right, but the scrollback is missing 99% of the file and each retained chunk starts mid-line. As soon as there are escape sequences in the dropped spans, your emulator is fully out of sync and invalid: a cut inside a CSI prints the parameters as text, and any SGR, mode, title, or alt-screen change in the gap is just... gone. FYI, this is why I don't like when people point at refterm as a terminal benchmark. refterm implements a TINY subset of what a terminal emulator must support, it's closer to a fast file reader, not a terminal emulator. I also don't mean any shade by this. I like to look at technology objectively to try to learn something and improve my own craft and work. So I'm sharing what I found. I modified your code very slightly to parse on every full buffer (rather than per tick). And the results are attached. Both use main commit in each repo at the time of this post. Note the graph is in log scale, the discrepancy between performance for things like Kitty images is measured in GB/s.

The Election Commission has filed its reply in the Supreme Court to the petition on how the three-member Commission functions. 27 pages, approved by all three members. Its argument: every decision was unanimous, and a Commissioner’s note is a “suggestion,” not a decision. Here’s what it addresses, and what it doesn’t. 🧵 (1/10)

🇮🇳 🚨 INDIA: AAKASH HEALTHCARE PATIENT DATABASE ALLEGEDLY FOR SALE, 3M RECORDS CLAIMED A threat actor on a dark web forum is selling a database they claim was stolen from Aakash Healthcare, a multi-specialty hospital in New Delhi, and says it holds about 3 million patient records. The asking price is $10,000. The actor's sample allegedly includes: * Patient IDs and registration numbers * Names, gender and dates of birth * Addresses and contact details * Medical reports ⚠️ Analyst Note: Hospital patient data is often used for medical fraud, extortion and convincing phishing that references real treatment. Patients should be cautious with unexpected calls or messages about their records or bills. The dataset's size and origin have not been verified, and the hospital has not publicly confirmed an incident. This is an unverified threat-actor claim, NOT confirmation of a breach. #DDW #DarkWeb #DataBreach #India #Healthcare #PatientData #ThreatIntelligence #CyberSecurity

🇮🇳 🚨 INDIA: EVIL MARKHOR CLAIMS BREACH OF INDIAN ARMY SYSTEMS, 15,000+ PERSONNEL RECORDS AND INTERNAL MoD FILES ALLEGEDLY LEAKED A threat actor using the name Evil Markhor claims it breached systems linked to the Indian Army website under India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) and leaked about 3 GB of internal data. The actor claims: * More than 15,000 personnel records with service numbers, ranks, units, contact details, dates of birth, next-of-kin and medical information * CSD car sanction lists, gazettes and veteran address books * Internal MoD correspondence * Dental Corps recruitment dossiers that allegedly contain plaintext passwords ⚠️ Analyst Note: If real, this exposes serving soldiers, veterans and their families to targeted phishing, social engineering and espionage, and the plaintext passwords could open the door to further access. The same actor name surfaced in an earlier claim against Indian defense firm Bharat Electronics, and hacktivist claims in this space are often exaggerated. The Indian Army and MoD have not confirmed an incident. Unverified threat-actor claim, NOT confirmation of a breach. #DDW #DarkWeb #India #Military #DataBreach #ThreatIntelligence

Same arguments since the 90s. Make the states compete with each other, turn the CM into CEO of state. Somebody tell them, Govt is not a startup. If you want here is President Obama explaining it vox.com/2016/10/17/13301130/…
'Allow different provinces and states to compete with another like they are a capitalist organisation; CM of the state could operate CEO of the state,' Nikhil Kamath, Investor, Entrepreneur told @rahulkanwal on building India's next economy. @nikhilkamathcio #NDTVWorldSummit2026

Police brought a man to a Kerala hospital at night to treat a wound on his leg. He picked up a pair of surgical scissors and attacked the 22 year old doctor treating him. Her name was Dr Vandana Das, from Kaduthuruthy in Kottayam, Kerala. She was the only child of her parents. She was in the final stage of her MBBS, doing her house surgeon posting at Kottarakkara taluk hospital. In the early hours of 10 May 2023, police brought in G Sandeep, a 42 year old school teacher. He had caused trouble at home and had injuries on his leg. Inside the hospital, he first attacked the police officers who had brought him. Then he turned to Vandana. He stabbed her again and again in the head, neck and back with the scissors. Hospital staff were locked inside a room. A sub inspector and a home guard who tried to stop him were also injured. The ambulance driver and security staff finally held him down. Vandana was rushed to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. She died of her injuries. Doctors across Kerala went on strike. The Kerala government decided to amend the law protecting health workers. The Kerala High Court said her death was the result of a systemic failure that cannot be brushed aside as an isolated incident.

Yes, the real problem is not that Emudhra absolutely screwed the pooch, but that people on the internet made fun of them for it. They’re the victims here.
emudhra is exiting their certificate authority business not because they're incompetent but because of social media reactions

So this was new for me and I wish you don't have to go through this yourself. Earlier this year, at one of the events I attended, the speaker was literally reading out claude generated text. The slides are Claude generated without any intent and substance. I get that some people are not really good at speaking, but the LAST thing you'd want to do is to READ OUT ALOUD whatever Claude spits out. This is disrespectful to the attendees. If you're going to do that, I don't want to listen to you. Just give me your prompt and I'll read the output tokens.
